Despite sharing a similar name to the Seal sedan already available in Vietnam, the Seal 06 is not a pure electric vehicle but rather a PHEV (plug-in hybrid) model.

According to the Vietnam Intellectual Property Office, BYD has registered to protect the design of a sedan model in the country. Based on the images, car enthusiasts believe it to be the Seal 06, recently introduced in the Chinese market in May.

It’s important to note that registering a car design in Vietnam doesn’t guarantee its launch in the market, but it leaves the possibility open. Moreover, the Seal 06 is considered one of the flagship models of the Chinese automobile manufacturer.

Unlike the Seal model already available in Vietnam, the BYD Seal 06 is a PHEV (plug-in hybrid). Its dimensions are 4,830mm in length, 1,875mm in width, and 1,495mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,790mm.

The exterior of the BYD Seal 06 stands out with its low-set grille and partially hidden door handles. At the rear, the taillights stretch across the trunk, and the BYD logo illuminates at night.

Inside the cabin, the interior features soft-touch materials with attractive stitching. It boasts a three-spoke steering wheel and an 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster above it. At the center is BYD’s signature 15.6-inch rotating screen, controllable via voice commands.

The driver’s seat is designed for comfort and upholstered in perforated faux leather. The rear seats offer ample space and come with three individual headrests. Both headroom and legroom are generous, comfortably accommodating five adults.

The high-end version of the BYD Seal 06 offers additional features such as six airbags, automatic climate control, one-touch power windows for the driver, and tire pressure monitoring. It also includes a panoramic sunroof with an electric sunshade, DiPilot L2 driver assistance, power-adjustable front passenger seat, a dashcam, 18-inch alloy wheels, and heated and ventilated front seats.

In terms of performance, the BYD Seal 06 PHEV is powered by a 1.5L gasoline engine producing 99 horsepower, coupled with an electric motor (with output ranging from 161 to 215 horsepower depending on the variant). It comes with a CVT transmission and front-wheel drive.

The top-of-the-line model is equipped with a 15.9 kWh battery, offering an impressive all-electric range of up to 120 kilometers. According to the manufacturer, the car has a maximum range of 2,100 kilometers when the 65-liter fuel tank is full.
