The BYD Xia: A Tech-Savvy MPV with Impressive Dimensions

BYD has recently expanded its portfolio with the introduction of the BYD Xia, a formidable MPV that rivals the size of the Toyota Alphard and boasts a PHEV powertrain. Expected to launch later this year, the BYD Xia will have a starting price of 300,000 Chinese yuan (approximately 1.05 billion VND).

The BYD Xia’s design bears a resemblance to the Denza D9 MPV, particularly in the front grille, which features a massive trapezoidal shape accented by a chrome-trimmed rhombus pattern. The distinctive BYD-style headlights and the prominent air intakes on either side of the grille further enhance the vehicle’s bold presence.

With dimensions measuring 5,145 x 1,970 x 1,805 mm (length x width x height) and a wheelbase of 3,045 mm, the BYD Xia is a sizable MPV. In comparison, the Kia Carnival MPV has similar proportions, with dimensions of 5,155 x 1,995 x 1,775 mm and a wheelbase of 3,090 mm.

The interior of the BYD Xia accommodates three rows of seats in a 2+2+3 configuration. The dashboard design follows the recent trend seen in other BYD models like the Qin L and Song, featuring a floating central display integrated with the DiLink 150 software system and a uniquely shaped steering wheel.

The BYD Xia is equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems, including BYD’s DiPilot technology. Additionally, it incorporates the brand’s intelligent body control system, DiSus-C, which adjusts the suspension stiffness according to driving conditions. This technology is also found in other BYD models such as the Tang and Han, while their flagship vehicles, the Yangwang U8 and Denza N7, are equipped with the more advanced DiSus-P system.

In terms of powertrain, the BYD Xia employs BYD’s fifth-generation DM hybrid system, likely pairing the BYD472ZQB 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with a maximum output of 115 kW (154 hp) and a potent 268-hp electric motor.
