For the upcoming Gumball 3000 2024 supercar event in Vietnam, nearly 120 supercars, luxury cars, sports cars, and SUVs are expected to participate. However, there are still many empty slots for vehicles and participants. If we were to choose the most popular brand among international enthusiasts for this journey, it would undoubtedly be Porsche.
A remarkable 16 Porsches have been registered to take part in the Gumball 3000 rally, second only to Lamborghini. Most of these are 911 Turbos, followed by 911 GT3 RS and 911 GT2 RS models, with a rare Carrera GT among them.
There have been rumors that the Thai billionaire’s rare Porsche Carrera GT will be more for display than for driving in Vietnam, as the car is expected to join the Gumball 3000 convoy to Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
The Porsche Carrera GT was only produced for two years, with a limited run of 1,270 units. This car was named the Best Dream Machine by MotorWeek TV in 2005. It is powered by a 5.7-liter V10 engine that produces a maximum of 605 horsepower at 8,000 rpm. This powerful engine enables the supercar to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds.
Following the Porsche Carrera GT are the latest 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 RS duo. This model hasn’t yet made its appearance in Vietnam, and it’s not just the engine and suspension that take cues from racing cars—the design of the 911 GT3 RS 992 is also aggressively styled.
The car is powered by a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine, similar to the Porsche 911 GT3 992 owned by Mr. Vu and Cuong “Dollar,” but the 911 GT3 RS 2023 produces a higher output of 518 horsepower. This is achieved through a new camshaft with a single throttle valve system and solid valve lifters derived from motorsports.
Unfortunately, Porsche only offers the 911 GT3 RS 992 with a 7-speed PDK automatic transmission, unlike the manual transmission option available in the Porsche 911 GT3 992, which prompted the Chairman of Trung Nguyen to purchase two separate cars for different transmissions. The Porsche 911 GT3 RS 2023 can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 296 km/h.
Following the two Porsche 911 GT3 RS models are a pair of Porsche 911 GT2 RS, along with an older Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Porsche 911 Turbo, Porsche 911 Turbo S Coupe and Cabriolet, Porsche 911, and the 50-year-old Porsche 911 Carrera RS sports car.
Rounding off the Porsche contingent at the Gumball 3000 event is the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT, which has already arrived in Vietnam and sports a vibrant, eye-catching color scheme.
