Toyota Vietnam Announces August 2024 Sales Performance

Toyota Vietnam reported a total of 4,761 units sold in August 2024 (including Lexus vehicles).

Toyota’s domestic sales reached 4,700 units, comprising 1,911 domestically assembled vehicles and 2,789 completely built-up imported units.

The company’s hybrid vehicle sales performed well, with 391 units sold in August and a total of 2,477 hybrid vehicles sold in the first eight months of 2024. This reflects customers’ growing preference for fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly options.

During the same month, Lexus delivered 61 vehicles, bringing the total number of Lexus vehicles sold in Vietnam since its introduction to 13,117 units.

The best-selling models for August were the Vios with 1,010 units and the Yaris Cross with 927 units, followed by the Corolla Cross with 577 units and the Veloz Cross with 538 units.

Overall, August sales were impacted by the traditional Ghost Month, as well as adjustments in registration tax, which led to a wait-and-see attitude among customers. Additionally, longer customs clearance times affected sales performance, resulting in lower-than-expected numbers that may continue in the coming months. This challenge is not unique to Toyota but is being felt across the automotive market. It is hoped that positive developments will arise to improve the current situation.
