According to Circular 28 issued by the Ministry of Public Security on June 29, documents related to vehicles such as vehicle registration and driver’s licenses integrated into the national electronic identification (eID) account on the VNeID app will be considered equivalent to physical documents starting July 1.

Easy Integration

In reality, integrating these documents into the VNeID account is a straightforward process. First, users need to have the VNeID app installed on their smartphones, and their electronic identification account needs to be at Level 2 to utilize the integration and personal document presentation features.

From the home page, users can access the “Wallet” section and select “Integrate Documents” to begin. Alternatively, they can choose the “Driver’s License” option directly if they only intend to integrate their driver’s license into their electronic identification account.

Initially, users will be prompted to set up a six-digit passcode to secure their documents and personal information stored on the VNeID app.

After entering the passcode, users can select “Add Driver’s License” to start the integration process. Here, they will need to provide necessary information such as their driver’s license number and license class. Once the information is confirmed, they can submit their request.

The app will display a successful request message, indicating that the system will forward the information for verification before displaying the document on the VNeID app.

Depending on the status of the application, this verification and approval process can take up to three business days or even less. In the experience of Knowledge – Znews, integrating a Class A1 driver’s license into the VNeID account was almost instantly approved after submitting the request.

Once the documents are approved, users can present them via the VNeID app whenever needed.

Simple Presentation

As mentioned earlier, personal documents integrated into the VNeID electronic identification account, including driver’s licenses and vehicle registration, are now considered equivalent to physical documents as per Circular 28 issued by the Ministry of Public Security last month.

Therefore, if requested by authorities or in case of any requirement, VNeID users can present these documents via the app instead of showing the traditional paper versions.

To present the documents, users can go to the home page, select “Wallet,” and then choose “Present Documents.” After entering the six-digit passcode set up earlier, users can select one or multiple documents to present, including ID cards, residence information, health insurance cards, various classes of driver’s licenses, and vehicle registration.

For vehicle registration certificates, users can choose “Details” to view relevant information such as vehicle make, model, frame number, engine number, and color.

Since the presented documents through the VNeID app are considered equivalent to their physical counterparts, in case of any traffic violations, the authorities will temporarily hold the electronic documents.

Sharing her experience with Knowledge – Znews, Ms. Hong Anh (25, Ho Chi Minh City) mentioned that she has successfully integrated her driver’s license and vehicle-related documents into her electronic identification account. “I often forgot to carry these documents while driving, but now with the VNeID app allowing the presentation of electronic versions, I don’t have to worry anymore,” she shared.
