Select dealers have started taking reservations for the 2024 Kia Carnival, promising early delivery in September or October.
The Kia Carnival mid-life cycle upgrade was officially launched globally in late 2023. In July, the car was also spotted at a vehicle emission testing center in Hanoi, marking the first appearance of the mid-life cycle upgrade of this MPV in Vietnam.
For this mid-life cycle upgrade, the Kia Carnival exterior has been refined with a bolder look. The front grille features the characteristic ‘tiger-nose’ design, now framed with a chrome trim. The new vertical LED headlights are paired with a stylized T-shaped LED daytime running light bar. The fog lamps are positioned on either side of the central air intake, alongside electric sliding doors and a redesigned rear bumper.
At the rear, the standout feature is the 3D Starmap LED taillights that stretch across the width of the vehicle and continue downward onto the rear bumper. In addition to the taillights, the design of the rear bumper and trunk lid has been modified for a more harmonious appearance.
In terms of the interior, the Kia Carnival 2024 boasts a modern cabin similar to its EV6 and EV9 siblings.
It features a 12.3-inch central infotainment screen and a matching digital instrument cluster, creating a dual-screen setup. Additionally, it offers a head-up display (HUD) for easy access to vital information.
The climate control panel has been redesigned for a more streamlined and user-friendly experience. The gear selector has also been revamped, now featuring a rotary dial. Other notable features include a dashcam, smart key, digital side mirrors, ergonomic seats with premium leather upholstery, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The interior showcases a sophisticated two-tone color scheme.
In terms of safety, the Carnival 2024 introduces the Highway Driving Assistance 2 system, which provides advanced driver assistance by maintaining a safe distance from other vehicles, adhering to preset speeds, and keeping the vehicle within its lane. Compared to the previous generation, this new generation includes a lane-change function.
However, it is unclear whether these features will be retained for the Vietnamese market, and if so, whether the price will be adjusted upwards.
According to sales consultants, the earliest available version will be equipped with a 2.2L diesel engine, producing 199 horsepower, and paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 3.5L V6 gasoline engine option is expected to be discontinued.
Additionally, the Kia Carnival 2024 introduces a hybrid variant, combining a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine with an electric motor and a 1.49 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This setup generates a total output of 242 horsepower and 367 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Kia states that this new hybrid powertrain delivers impressive fuel efficiency, consuming approximately 7.1 liters per 100 kilometers in combined driving conditions.
In Vietnam, the current Kia Carnival is offered in seven different versions, with either a 7 or 8-seat configuration, and prices ranging from 1.189 billion to 1.759 billion VND.
