Honda has recently announced the pre-order of the updated Honda Civic model in Vietnam.
The 11th-generation Honda Civic will be launched in the Vietnamese market in October 2024 with superior performance and a range of technological, design, convenience, and safety improvements.
Honda Civic 2025 will be imported from Thailand and will be offered in three variants, one of which will be the e:HEV, a hybrid model.
The Honda Civic 2025 in Vietnam will be powered by two engine options.
The first is the familiar 1.5L VTEC TURBO engine that produces 176 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, mated to a CVT transmission.
The second, a premium option, features a hybrid powertrain that combines an electric motor and a gasoline engine, generating an impressive 200 horsepower. This model utilizes front-wheel drive and an electronic E-CVT transmission.
Unlike typical hybrid vehicles where the electric motor plays a secondary role, the Civic e:HEV RS utilizes the gasoline engine primarily as a generator, with most of the power delivered to the wheels coming from the electric motor.
This setup enables the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds while achieving a fuel efficiency rating of 4 liters/100 km, significantly better than the 6.3 liters/100 km of the RS gasoline model.
In addition to the new powertrain, the Honda Civic 2025 also receives some exterior tweaks. The hexagonal grille has been redesigned, now featuring a sharper front bumper and larger, more athletic air intakes, enhancing the car’s aerodynamics. The rear combination lamps have been darkened, creating a harmonious and bold look that accentuates the car’s overall dynamic design.
The new Honda Civic not only elevates style but also introduces new safety features such as the advanced Honda CONNECT telecommunication system on the e:HEV RS and RS variants, active noise cancellation, and a modern personal driving mode on the e:HEV RS version.
All variants of the Honda Civic 2025 are equipped with the Honda SENSING suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, including Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Adaptive High-Beam Support (AHB), Adaptive Low-Beam Support (ADB), Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow (ACC with LSF), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Front Vehicle Start Notification (LDN).
The car also features a rear sensor system and six airbags across all three variants, ensuring the highest level of protection for occupants and other road users.
With the addition of new equipment, the Honda Civic 2025 is expected to be priced higher than its predecessor. The current Honda Civic’s price ranges from 730 to 870 million VND.
As the trend towards eco-friendly vehicles grows, the introduction of a hybrid model could boost Honda Civic’s sales performance and competitiveness within the C-segment sedan market in Vietnam, where options are currently limited. The Toyota Corolla Altis hybrid, for example, is often in short supply.
Hybrid vehicles offer a more positive experience than their gasoline counterparts, reducing emissions and noise pollution. The assistance of the electric motor provides improved acceleration and a smoother driving experience, akin to that of an electric vehicle, without the range anxiety associated with EV charging.
