Mazda has recently confirmed that it will be unveiling its all-new pure electric sedan, the EZ-6, later this autumn.

The Mazda EZ-6 is a collaboration between the Japanese brand and Chinese automaker Changan, and is set to replace the soon-to-be-discontinued Mazda6.

The EZ-6 shares a platform with the Deepal SL03, another sedan under the Changan umbrella, but sports Mazda’s signature KODO design language.

The Mazda EZ-6 measures 4,921 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,485 mm in height. These dimensions are notably larger than the current Mazda6 (4,865 x 1,840 x 1,450 mm).

The car has a sporty design with a fastback-style sloping roof and an active spoiler on the trunk lid. The front grille features a 3D-style design with an LED light ring around its perimeter. Slim daytime running lights, a signature of Mazda, sit on either side, while the main headlights are positioned lower down. At the rear, the distinctive circular LED taillights are retained, now connected by a full-width LED strip. The traditional Mazda logo has been replaced by the word “MAZDA.”

The Mazda EZ-6’s interior boasts a modern, minimalist aesthetic, with most controls integrated into a 14.6-inch touchscreen display in the center of the dashboard. The steering wheel and 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster resemble those found in the Deepal SL03. The sedan features a premium Sony sound system instead of the usual Bose speakers found in other Mazda models. Additionally, it also comes with ambient lighting.

The Mazda EZ-6 incorporates cutting-edge AI and electrification technologies from Changan Automobile. This pure electric sedan is equipped with Level 2.5 autonomous driving capabilities, a Qualcomm SA8155P 7nm chip, a high-resolution surround-view camera system, and 12 high-performance ultrasonic radars. These features enable advanced parking functions, including automatic, remote, and trace parking.

While full specifications and equipment details of the EZ-6 are not yet available, Mazda has confirmed that the sedan will offer the same powertrain options as the Deepal SL03, including pure electric and hybrid configurations. The pure electric version features a rear-mounted motor producing either 215 or 255 horsepower, paired with a choice of 58.9 kWh or 66.8 kWh battery packs.

The hybrid configuration combines a 1.5L inline-four gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 215 or 235 horsepower.

According to Mazda’s official statement, the pure electric model offers a range of nearly 600 kilometers, while the PHEV variant can go up to 1,000 kilometers on a single charge.

As the successor to the Mazda6, the EZ-6 is likely to be introduced globally and could also make its way to the Vietnamese market.
