Skoda Unveils the All-New Skoda Kylaq: A Dynamic and Stylish SUV

Skoda has officially announced the name of its all-new compact SUV, the Skoda Kylaq. The name, meaning crystal in Sanskrit, was chosen through a naming contest in India with 200,000 participants voting on social media platforms.

Following the brand’s naming convention, “Kylaq” starts with a K and ends with a Q, fitting seamlessly into Skoda’s vehicle lineup.

The Skoda Kylaq, like its sibling the Kushaq, is built on the Volkswagen Group’s compact MQB platform. From the teaser images, the SUV showcases a sporty and dynamic design language.

The front grille retains Skoda’s characteristic vertical slats, complemented by dual-wing fog lamps and headlamps integrated into the front bumper.

The rear of the vehicle bears a resemblance to the T-Cross, a fellow Volkswagen Group model.

Under the hood, the Skoda Kylaq is expected to be powered by a 1.0L turbocharged petrol engine, producing 113 horsepower and 178 Nm of torque. The engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission, driving the front wheels.

Scheduled for launch in early 2024, the Skoda Kylaq is anticipated to be priced at around 800,000 INR (approximately 242.9 million VND). It will compete against rivals such as the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.
