Hyundai has been quite busy lately, with rumors of developing an electric pickup truck and plans to introduce an electric version of the Santa Fe.
The South Korean automaker has not revealed much information about the new pickup truck or the electric Santa Fe, but sources suggest that Hyundai will offer an extended-range electric vehicle option (similar to the Nissan Kicks e-Power) for both models.
Hyundai aims to sell 50,000 units of the new pickup truck annually starting from 2029, with the model potentially becoming a best-seller for the brand. The truck is expected to be named the Ioniq T7, according to Hyundai’s trademark filing, where ‘T’ stands for ‘Truck.’
With the lackluster sales of the new Hyundai Santa Fe, the introduction of an electric version could help boost its performance and appeal to a wider audience.
According to reports, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is expected to be launched in the Vietnamese market in September this year. Earlier in July, a Hyundai Santa Fe of the new generation was spotted at an emission testing center in Hanoi.
The Hyundai Santa Fe in Vietnam is likely to be offered in three to four variants, with two engine options: a 2.5L gasoline engine and a hybrid powertrain.
