There’s a buzz on social media as a photo of a Porsche 911 Dakar with the license plate 51K-882.28 recently surfaced in Can Tho. This is the 4th official Porsche 911 Dakar to arrive in Vietnam.

The car sports a light green exterior with numerous decals of the number 88, possibly indicating its sequence number out of the 2,500 units produced globally.

The license plate, 51K-882.28, was auctioned off for VND 110 million back in October 2023. It’s unclear whether the owner of this Porsche 911 Dakar acquired the plate through the auction or purchased it from the original bidder.

The Porsche 911 Dakar is currently being imported officially into Vietnam, retailing at nearly VND 15.3 billion (excluding additional options).

Porsche 911 Dakar is a special variant with off-road capabilities, commemorating Porsche’s first overall victory in the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally.

Based on the standard 911 Carrera platform, it’s been upgraded for diverse terrain. Porsche tweaked the suspension, raising the ground clearance to 200 mm, 80 mm higher than regular 911 versions.

As a super-sports car for off-road driving, the Porsche 911 Dakar is equipped with an Off-road High Level mode, which further increases ground clearance by 30 mm. This gives the car the same ground clearance and off-road angles as regular SUVs, allowing it to navigate speed bumps and potholes with ease. This mode automatically disengages when the car exceeds 170 km/h.

Under the hood, the Porsche 911 Dakar boasts a 3.0L flat-six engine producing 473 horsepower and 570 Nm of torque, coupled with an 8-speed PDK automatic transmission and AWD. This setup propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, reaching a top speed of 240 km/h.

It comes standard with four-wheel steering and a multi-purpose engine mount, reducing the car’s weight by 7.3 kg. Other weight-saving measures include a fixed rear wing and thinner glass.
