The Gumball 3000 2024 supercar event, taking place on September 14 and 15, 2024, in Vietnam, will feature an impressive lineup of vehicles owned by “Qua” Vu. In addition to the Bugatti Veyron, Ford GT, and Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition, the team will also showcase 15 Ferrari supercars, including some very special editions. The highlight of this “prancing horse” ensemble will undoubtedly be a Ferrari that embodies many exceptional qualities.
And it’s not hard to guess which Ferrari model it is—the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider, a convertible supercar that sits just below the 812 Superfast and F12 Berlinetta in terms of power. Despite having a V8 engine, it still packs a punch, although it’s not as powerful as the V12 engines of the other two supercars.
The 488 Pista Spider is currently the most expensive and powerful Ferrari in “Qua” Vu’s garage. With 710 horsepower, this supercar promises to be a standout in the Ferrari lineup at Gumball 3000 2024.
This particular Ferrari 488 Pista Spider is finished in Rosso Fiorano red, a rare color for Ferraris in Vietnam. However, the owner decided to wrap the car in a silver chrome finish, complementing the original Nero Daytona black double stripes that run from the front bumper, over the hood, to the roof, and ending at the rear spoiler.
Carbon fiber components are used extensively throughout the car, keeping the weight of the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider convertible to just 1.38 tons, only 0.1 tons heavier than the Coupe version. The main difference between the Pista Spider and the Pista Coupe is the retractable hardtop, which can be opened or closed in 14 to 16 seconds. Ferrari has also added a rear wind deflector to reduce cabin noise.
Powering the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider is a 3.9-liter V8 engine with twin turbos, producing a maximum output of 710 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 770 Nm of peak torque at 3,000 rpm.
The engine in the 488 Pista Spider is paired with a 7-speed F1 dual-clutch transmission, enabling the convertible supercar to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.85 seconds, reaching a top speed of 340 km/h.
In Vietnam, there are currently three Ferrari 488 Pista Spiders. The first one is owned by Hoang Kim Khanh, and the third one belongs to a car enthusiast from Hanoi.
The Ultimate Automotive Extravaganza: A Bugatti Chiron-less Gumball 3000 Journey in Vietnam
Two stunning Bugatti Chiron supercars, one a standard model and the other a Pur Sport variant, were teased to be part of the Gumball 3000 2024 event. However, as of now, the official list of participating vehicles for Vietnam’s largest supercar gathering makes no mention of these two exquisite machines.
