On **September 4, 2024**, the Southern Economic Cooperative Alliance signed a strategic cooperation agreement with GSM to lease and purchase 5,000 VinFast electric vehicles in 2024 to gradually replace their existing gasoline-powered fleet.
As per the agreement, the Southern Economic Cooperative Alliance will take immediate delivery of 1,000 VinFast electric vehicles in September and October 2024. GSM and VinFast will jointly deliver the remaining vehicles in the last two months of the year.

These vehicles will be used by the cooperative’s members to provide transportation services, replacing their current gasoline-powered vehicles. The cooperative’s future goal is to go completely green, replacing 100% of its members’ vehicles with electric ones, and investing in charging stations and infrastructure to meet the technical requirements for electric vehicle maintenance and repair.
With approximately 55,000 members, the Southern Economic Cooperative Alliance is currently the largest taxi driver union in Vietnam, accounting for about 70% of the market share. Recognizing the growing trend of electric vehicles and their economic, health, and environmental benefits, the cooperative has decided to encourage its members to go green by leasing and purchasing VinFast electric vehicles from GSM for their business operations. Currently, thousands of the cooperative’s members are already using VinFast vehicles to provide services on various ride-hailing platforms, especially the Xanh SM Platform.
The cooperative will also provide practical financial solutions for drivers, support business registration on the Xanh SM Platform, and offer free vehicle management for those using electric vehicles as part of the cooperative.
*Leaders of GSM and the Cooperatives shake hands to cooperate in the green transition*
Mr. Tran Thanh Tuan, Chairman of the Cooperative, shared, “With creativity and innovation as our guiding principles, the cooperative constantly seeks new approaches to meet the evolving needs of our customers and the global green trend. With GSM’s partnership and inspiration, we will become a bridge to expand the network of all-electric transportation to every cooperative and member, fostering the growth of a strong green alliance and maximizing positive impacts on both economic and social fronts.”
Attending the signing ceremony, Mr. Le Tan Luu, Chairman of the Binh Tan District Motorcycle and Technology Union, said, “The supportive policies and cooperation between the cooperative’s businesses and GSM are expected to provide better opportunities for workers to access improved policies, safer and better vehicles, and ultimately improve their livelihoods and social welfare.”
The participation of Vietnam’s largest taxi driver cooperative in the green transition with GSM demonstrates the economic viability and positive social impact of electric vehicles. This cooperation agreement also marks a significant shift in the community’s perception of green transition, reflecting their determination to upgrade the quality, professionalism, and civility of public passenger transportation services.
In parallel with the green transition program with GSM, the Southern Economic Cooperative Alliance also offers welfare and welfare policies for drivers, such as periodic health check-ups, 24/7 rescue centers, free rest stops for dining and relaxation, the establishment of a charity fund, and financial support with special interest rates for members in difficult circumstances.
Over the past year since its establishment, GSM has partnered with over 35 green-transitioned enterprises, including taxi companies and transport businesses in many localities. Recently, GSM welcomed nearly 5,000 VinFast electric vehicle owners to provide services on the Xanh SM Platform, making electric mobility a familiar and eco-friendly choice for the community.
