In a surprising move, Volvo has released teaser images of its upcoming all-electric sedan, the ES90, ahead of its official launch in March 2025.
While Volvo has not disclosed details about the ES90’s design and specifications, the revealed images suggest that the new model shares many design cues with the Volvo S90.
According to speculations, the ES90 is expected to have overall dimensions of 4,990 x 1,945 x 1,547 mm (length x width x height), with a wheelbase of 3,102 mm. These dimensions make it slightly shorter than the S90, but with a longer wheelbase by 41 mm, resulting in a more spacious and comfortable interior.
The ES90 is likely to be based on the second-generation Scalable Product Architecture (SPA2) platform, similar to the EX90. If this information is accurate, the ES90 will offer the same engine options as its Volvo EX90 sibling.
The ES90 is rumored to have a single-motor option with rear-wheel drive, producing 275 horsepower and 490 Nm of torque. There is also speculation about a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive, generating 402 horsepower and 770 Nm of torque. Additionally, a high-performance Twin Motor Performance version with 509 horsepower and 910 Nm of torque may be offered.
The Volvo EX90, in its RWD configuration, is equipped with a 104 kWh battery pack, offering a maximum range of up to 580 km. Meanwhile, the AWD versions, powered by a 111 kWh battery, are expected to provide a range of up to 614 km.Â
The Volvo EX90 is slated to be produced at the joint venture factory between Geely and Volvo in Zhejiang, China.Â
