Gumball 3000 is an ultimate supercar journey, welcoming all makes, models, and editions. As long as you can register and afford the fee, you’re in for the ride of your life. This has attracted many members with a penchant for luxury and comfort, opting for extravagant choices such as SUVs and grand tourers over low-slung supercars.
This unique approach to supercar rallies will be on full display in Vietnam on September 14 and 15, 2024, with the inclusion of two Bentley coupes and an SUV in the Gumball 3000 lineup.
The first Bentley to grace the event is a first-generation Continental GT coupe, a surprising entry considering it rolled off the production line over 21 years ago and hasn’t been in production for the last 13 years.
The Bentley Continental GT of this generation was quite popular in Vietnam, with nearly 20 units imported, including special and limited editions, as well as convertibles. When new in 2007, these cars commanded a price of over 12 billion VND, but now they fetch just over 1 billion VND.
The second Continental GT in the Gumball 3000 is a newer, third-generation model that just went out of production this year. Its owner has given it a unique look with a two-tone green and black wrap. This particular car is the W12 variant, as given away by its oval exhaust tips.
The W12 engine in the Bentley Continental GT is a 6.0-liter powerhouse that delivers 626 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. This engine option often incurs higher taxes in certain countries compared to the V8 model, but for those who crave the ultimate in grand touring, the extra cost is worth it.
The W12 engine is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, propelling the coupe from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds towards a top speed of 333 km/h.
The final Bentley in the lineup is the Bentayga SUV, specifically, a first-generation model with a V8 engine. The front bumper and air intakes are a dead giveaway for this early edition of Bentley’s luxurious SUV.
