This Thief Only Needed Seconds to ‘Peel’ the Glass of a Tesla Cybertruck. The Owner Was Shocked That the Vehicle’s Sentry Mode Did Not Alert Him of the Break-in.
The Tesla Cybertruck has been heavily promoted as an extremely safe vehicle, with its body capable of withstanding bullets and its windows able to resist impacts from rocks. However, a recent video reveals that it may not be as theft-proof as claimed, as a skilled intruder was able to break into the car with relative ease using just a simple tool.
In a post on the Tesla CyberTruck fanpage, owner Thakker from Atlanta, Georgia, shared a video of his car being broken into. The clear footage of the theft was captured by an external camera with the Sentry mode activated. Typically, thieves would use an object to smash the side windows of a car.
However, as the Tesla Cybertruck’s windows are advertised to be very sturdy, the thief in this case used a tool to apply pressure to the top of the window, causing it to crack. Surprisingly, the glass remained intact, possibly due to the adhesive layer, allowing the intruder to easily pull down the glass like a can lid. He then crawled inside the vehicle and stole a backpack.
What’s noteworthy is that the Tesla Cybertruck’s alarm did not go off during the break-in, and the owner did not receive any alerts about the theft through the Tesla app on his phone, despite the clear intrusion.
Thakker was shocked by this incident, as the Tesla Cybertruck is marketed as being able to withstand bullets or, at the very least, significant impacts. He had even activated the anti-theft feature.
This event has sparked skepticism among the online community about Tesla’s claims regarding the Cybertruck’s security. Previously, another Cybertruck owner shared a similar incident shortly after taking delivery of the vehicle. While having a conversation with his wife, she accidentally swung her hand, and the ring on her finger cracked the windshield. There was also an incident involving an ice cream vendor who accidentally angered a woman, resulting in her smashing his Cybertruck’s windows.
