Volvo is the next brand to withdraw from the Vietnam Auto Expo 2024.
As planned, the Vietnam Auto Expo – Vietnam Motor Show, organized by the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) in collaboration with the Vietnam Automobile Importers Association (VIVA), will take place from October 23 to 27, 2024, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City).
After a one-year hiatus, the return of VMS 2024 was expected to be a promising “playground” as many new brands (mainly Chinese) entered the market this year. However, according to the latest update on the exhibition’s website, the number of participating brands has decreased from 13 to 9.
Specifically, Volkswagen and Volvo are the two brands that will not be present at VMS 2024. Volvo has not yet released official information about this. Earlier, in July 2024, Volkswagen confirmed its withdrawal from the VMS 2024 exhibition as it could not bring electric vehicles, predicted to be the ID.6 X, to Vietnam in time.
Thus, VMS 2023 still includes the following automotive brands: GAC, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Skoda, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, MG, and Honda. In addition, there are three motorcycle brands: Honda, SYM, and Yamaha.
It can be seen that the Vietnam Auto Expo this year mainly features Japanese car brands. The representatives from China are only MG and GAC, while brands like Wuling, Chery, and Haval remain silent. However, at this event, the car companies may exhibit some new products, promising to attract the attention of exhibition visitors.
