After months of anticipation, the world’s most prestigious supercar rally, Gumball 3000, is finally kicking off its 25th edition this morning, September 14, 2024. Alongside over 100 supercars from global enthusiasts, 16 supercars from the Trung Nguyên Coffee Corporation will be participating, a number that has been reduced from the initially expected 28.
Interestingly, despite not being on the previously circulated list, the one-of-a-kind Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Duke Dynamics made an appearance as the Ferraris of “Qua” Vu were being assembled. This unexpected addition, replacing a black Ferrari 488 GTB, delighted car enthusiasts as it will now pair up with the Ferrari 458 Italia Liberty Walk.
The Duke Dynamics F12 Berlinetta: The Final Piece of the Trung Nguyên Ferrari Puzzle at Gumball 3000
This is the second time that the unique Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Duke Dynamics has been showcased by “Qua” Vu, but it’s the first time it’s happening in Ho Chi Minh City, making it a highly anticipated event for car enthusiasts. This is one of two Ferrari F12 Berlinettas participating in Gumball 3000 by Trung Nguyên, the other being the only white model in Vietnam. The businessman also owns a red one that has been wrapped in black.
There are only 15 Ferrari F12 Berlinettas in the world sporting the Duke Dynamics modification, and just one of them is in Vietnam. This supercar has had multiple owners, many of whom were speed enthusiasts. Now, it has found its home with Vietnam’s top supercar collector, who is also known for his impressive collection of over 40 Ferraris. He has gained a reputation among car enthusiasts for rarely letting go of any supercars that enter his collection.
The Duke Dynamics F12 Berlinetta found its way to the coastal city of Ba Ria – Vung Tau, where it underwent a unique transformation. A few years later, the car changed hands several times before ending up with a car dealer in Hanoi. In early August 2022, this one-of-a-kind modified Ferrari F12 Berlinetta was quietly put up for sale, and Vietnam’s top Ferrari collector seized the opportunity to add it to his impressive collection.
Once a car enters the collection of the “king of coffee” in Vietnam, it typically gets a new paint job in silver, white, black, or olive green. True to form, the iconic red Ferrari F12 Berlinetta Duke Dynamics now sports a silver exterior. Personal touches added by the owner include the initials “UN” on the door and a custom cup holder and cigar cutter in the cockpit, along with Gumball 3000 decals.
The Duke Dynamics modification on this Ferrari F12 Berlinetta includes a total of 21 changes to the original design, all aimed at giving the supercar a more aggressive and muscular look while reducing its weight. To achieve this, Duke Dynamics utilized carbon fiber and fiberglass-reinforced plastic to create a bespoke body kit.
The standout features of the Duke Dynamics F12 Berlinetta include an additional carbon fiber front grille and a more prominent front bumper, along with a large front splitter that extends the profile of the car. The side skirts are enhanced with carbon fiber, and the wheel arches feature three vents, reminiscent of the limited-edition Ferrari F12tdf. The wheel arches have been widened, and the HRE wheels now feature a uniform silver finish instead of the previous black spokes and red rim edges.
At the rear, you’ll find an aftermarket exhaust system and a massive carbon fiber wing, similar to the one on the Ferrari 458 Italia Liberty Walk, which has since been removed. Under the hood, the Duke Dynamics F12 Berlinetta is still powered by a 6.3-liter V12 engine that produces 730 horsepower at 8,250 rpm and 690 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, propelling the car from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds, with a top speed of 340 km/h.
