On September 14th, the Gumball 3000 supercar journey officially kicked off on Le Loi Boulevard (Ho Chi Minh City), gathering over 100 vehicles from around the world in Vietnam. The convoy is expected to depart on the morning of September 15th, traveling through Cambodia, Thailand, and Malaysia before concluding in Singapore.
During the press conference for the event, Mr. Maximillion Cooper, the founder of Gumball 3000, expressed his deep sympathy for the Vietnamese people affected by the ongoing natural disasters in the northern provinces. He also launched a campaign urging participants and those interested in the supercar journey worldwide to contribute to a fundraising effort to support the Vietnamese people in recovering from the aftermath of Storm No. 3. The fundraising drive is expected to run from September 14th to September 23rd, 2024, and the proceeds will be donated to the Fatherland Front of District 1, according to the organizing committee.
Despite the large number of supercars participating in the Gumball 3000 2024 event, there are still a few names that car enthusiasts are particularly interested in and eager to see. One such example is the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series P One Edition featured here.
The reason why the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series P One Edition has garnered so much attention from enthusiasts is that it is a limited-edition model, with only 275 units produced globally. However, that’s not the most extraordinary aspect of this car. At its launch, Mercedes-Benz announced that the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series P One Edition would only be sold to customers who had already ordered the Mercedes-AMG One (priced from $2.73 million ~ VND 63 billion). This means that if you want to own the GT Black Series P One Edition, you will also have to purchase the Mercedes-AMG One.
Unlike most other Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series P One Editions, which feature a silver paint job that gradually transitions to black towards the rear, this particular car is finished entirely in glossy black paint with a unique touch: hundreds of hand-painted silver three-pointed star motifs, a signature Mercedes feature, adorn the rear exterior. Additionally, to fit in with the supercars participating in the Gumball 3000 2024 event, the owner has applied a series of decals with letters, numbers, and logos all over the exterior of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series P One Edition.
Aside from its unique color, the car also stands out with Petronas-colored accents on the rims and wheels. The 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tires, sized 295/35 at the front and 335/30 at the rear.
The heart of the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series P One Edition is a V8 Biturbo engine that produces 720 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, a significant increase of 143 horsepower over the Mercedes-AMG GT R. This engine is paired with a new 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 325 km/h.
