The renowned automotive website Carscoops has recently shared exclusive spy shots of the upcoming 2025 Kia Sportage being tested on German roads. Interestingly, Kia is developing two distinct versions of the Sportage, one tailored for the European market and another, larger variant aimed at North American consumers.

Despite the heavy camouflage, the photos revealed by Carscoops give us a glimpse into the redesigned front end of the 2025 Sportage, showcasing a prominent grille composed of horizontal slats.

The LED daytime running lights of the 2025 Kia Sportage are vertically oriented, flanking the main headlight clusters which are arranged in a similar fashion. The front bumper appears to have been redesigned, now featuring new air intakes and fog lights with a stacked configuration.

Aside from the notable changes mentioned above, the 2025 Sportage seems to retain the fundamental design elements of the current generation. However, Carscoops speculates that the taillights and rear bumper may undergo subtle revisions by the Korean automaker.

Although interior images are not available, Carscoops believes that the 2025 Sportage will likely feature an updated infotainment system and a more modern gear selector. The compact SUV is also expected to be equipped with advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to enhance safety and convenience.

It remains to be seen whether Kia will introduce any significant changes to the powertrain options for the 2025 Sportage. The current-generation Sportage offers a diverse range of engine choices.

The standard engine is a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder unit producing 148 horsepower, mated to either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Alternatively, there’s a hybrid variant with a 1.49-kWh lithium-ion battery pack, delivering a combined output of 226 horsepower.

Furthermore, the current Sportage lineup includes a plug-in hybrid model, boasting a combined system output of 261 horsepower and an all-electric range of up to 69 kilometers.

In the Vietnamese market, the Kia Sportage is offered with three engine options: a 2.0-liter gasoline engine, a 2.0-liter diesel engine, and a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine. THACO, the distributor of Kia vehicles in Vietnam, has not yet introduced the hybrid variants of the Sportage to local customers.

During the first half of 2024, the Kia Sportage recorded sales of 1,001 units in Vietnam, trailing behind competitors such as the Mazda CX-5 (5,270 units), Ford Territory (2,949 units), Honda CR-V (2,338 units), and the Hyundai Tucson, which sold 2,084 units in the same period.
