The Koenigsegg Regera “Honey” edition steals the show at Gumball 3000, owned by renowned car enthusiast Dan Kang from the USA.
Today, on the 14th of September 2024, the highly anticipated Gumball 3000 supercar event kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City. According to the organizers, this is the first time that the entire Gumball 3000 route is being held in Asia. The car display event, dubbed Gumball Grid and known as the “world’s most expensive car park,” featured 100 supercars, hypercars, sports cars, JDM cars, modified cars, and classics from brands like Bugatti, Koenigsegg, Lamborghini, McLaren, Rolls-Royce, and Porsche. Among them were several one-of-a-kind vehicles that embody the pinnacle of technology, design, and culture.
One of the most notable cars at the event was the Koenigsegg Regera “Honey” edition. This megacar is owned by none other than Dan Kang, a globally renowned car enthusiast from the USA.
The Koenigsegg Regera boasts a strikingly impressive design with its signature 180-degree opening doors, a feature that sets it apart from any other supercar on the market. What’s more, this particular Regera is equipped with the Ghost Package, which includes a front bumper and carbon fiber side fins on the headlamps, giving it an even more aggressive look.
Additionally, the Koenigsegg Regera “Honey” is the first car in the world to have its own NFT. When the “Honey” logo on the rear of the car is scanned, a smartphone will automatically play a short video featuring Christian von Koenigsegg, the brand’s founder, introducing the car, accompanied by the song “Honey,” composed by his son, Sebastian von Koenigsegg.
The Koenigsegg Regera forgoes a traditional transmission and instead utilizes a direct drive system, reducing energy loss by 50% compared to conventional transmissions.
Powering the Koenigsegg Regera is a 5.0L twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 1,100 horsepower. Combined with three electric motors, the total output reaches 1,500 horsepower. This enables the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 400 km/h.
