These charging stations will adhere to a universal standard, catering to all types of electric vehicles.
Ho Chi Minh City plans to convert 2,771 buses to electric power in the 2025-2030 period, with 1,108 of them being allocated to new routes. To meet the charging demands of these buses, the project proposes the development of 25 public charging stations for electric buses, powered by green energy.
The Transportation Public Service Center of the city has allocated VND 1,220.7 billion from the city’s budget to build 17 charging stations. The remaining 8 stations will be developed by the Saigon Transportation Mechanical Corporation (Samco) with an investment of over VND 800 billion.
The stations deployed by Samco will be installed at major terminals, including the Eastern Bus Station, the New Eastern Bus Station, the Western Bus Station, and the An Suong Bus Station.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transportation, these charging stations will adhere to universal standards and support all types of electric vehicles. In addition to the publicly funded stations, private investors are also encouraged to participate with a loan policy of up to 70% of the total project investment. The interest rate for the loan is set at 50% of the interest rate announced by the Ho Chi Minh City State Finance and Investment Company for the entire loan term. The city’s budget will subsidize the remaining 50% of the interest rate.
In the upcoming time, Ho Chi Minh City will continue to survey locations to further expand the network of charging stations.
