The Gumball 3000 2024 rally, one of the world’s largest, kicked off today with tens of thousands of spectators at its peak, including Mr. Hai who flew in from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City. He was awe-struck by the gathering of hundreds of supercars from around the globe and even more so by the display of nearly 20 supercars from Trung Nguyên Coffee, a Vietnamese coffee company.
Mr. Hai and Ms. Nga both expressed disbelief that a Vietnamese individual could amass such an extensive car collection, worth billions of dong, after hearing about Mr. Vũ (Đặng Lê Nguyên Vũ, Chairman of Trung Nguyên Coffee) and his purchases. They wondered if they would ever own even a Ferrari wheel in their lifetime.

Trung Nguyên’s display featuring 16 of their cars
Ms. Tuyet and her family, including her husband and two sons, traveled from Danang to Ho Chi Minh City by train, covering a distance of over 1,600km. Their sole purpose was to fulfill their sons’ passion for supercars, especially the Bugatti brand. The older son had begged his mother for two months to see the Bugatti Veyron owned by Mr. Vũ in person, having only seen it on screens before.
Upon arriving in Saigon in the early afternoon, the family had a quick bite of bánh mì before rushing to the event, captivating both the children and adults alike. Besides the stunning display of global supercars, Trung Nguyên’s fleet, including a Bugatti Veyron, also attracted much attention. As the sun set, the gates of Trung Nguyên’s display area opened, and the sons rushed to get a closer look at their dream cars.
The event attracted not only those fascinated by the Gumball 3000 supercars and celebrities but also a large crowd curious about Trung Nguyên’s car display. The scale of the event could only be truly appreciated from the height of a nearby building.
Mr. Đặng Lê Nguyên Vũ showcased his most exquisite, unique, and outstanding cars at the Gumball 3000 2024 event. However, due to limited space, only 16 cars could be displayed, leaving dozens of other prestigious vehicles unseen.
The selection of Ferrari “prancing horses,” the Bugatti Veyron, Ford GT, and Ford GT ’67 Heritage Edition made for an exciting “online check-in” experience at the event, rivaling even the main Gumball 3000 area. Representatives of the Gumball 3000 rally were astonished to learn that an individual in Vietnam owned nearly 700 cars, making it one of the largest car collections they had ever encountered.
The 25th Gumball 3000 event will conclude tomorrow, September 15th. The participants will then depart from Ho Chi Minh City to the Cu Chi tunnels before reaching the Moc Bai border gate in Tay Ninh province and continuing their journey into Cambodia.
