The Gumball 3000 supercar event has gained worldwide fame since its inception in 1999. This year’s journey will cover a distance of 3,000 miles, and anyone can participate regardless of their car ownership. From a Toyota Vios to a one-of-a-kind Bugatti, all are welcome as long as they can afford the entry fee of 2.5 billion VND per car.
Marking the 25th anniversary of Gumball 3000, the organizers chose ASEAN as the main destination for this year’s event, with Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as the starting point. On September 14, 2024, the Gumball 3000 supercar event officially kicked off, attracting tens of thousands of spectators at its peak.
Over 100 supercars were transported by tow trucks and drove in groups for 12 hours from Di An, Binh Duong to Le Loi Boulevard. It is unclear why the organizers chose such a distant assembly point, but fortunately, only a few cars in the convoy experienced minor issues such as flat tires, overheating, or sudden engine shutdowns. The Gumball 3000 team handled these incidents smoothly, and there were no accidents.
The Gumball 3000 extravaganza treated car enthusiasts to a visual feast, showcasing rare and exotic supercars like the Pagani Huayra BC Roadster, Koenigsegg Regera “Honey,” Porsche Carrera GT, Porsche 911 GT3 RS (992 generation), and many more.
On September 15, 2024, at 11 am, the Gumball 3000 journey will officially commence with a flag-off ceremony, embarking on the first leg of the trip from Le Loi Boulevard to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels for exploration by the participants.
On the same day, the convoy will head to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and continue their journey to Angkor Wat, Bangkok, Krabi, Kuala Lumpur, and finally concluding in Singapore on September 21, 2024.
