MG Unveils Their New Affordable Electric Vehicle: The Windsor
MG has introduced a unique ownership model for the Windsor, where customers will not own the battery and will instead lease it. This results in a lower purchase price but incurs running costs.
The MG Windsor has an MPV-like stance but is configured as a 5-seater. Its design is minimalist, featuring a distinctive two-tier front end that may appeal to a niche market.
Large windows provide a spacious feel to the cabin. Despite being an affordable EV, the Windsor sports chrome trim around the windows, door sills, and bumpers. It rides on stylish 18-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the MG Windsor impresses with a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, wireless phone charging, deeply reclining and ventilated front seats, dedicated rear AC vents, power-adjustable driver’s seat, a nine-speaker Infinity sound system, a panoramic sunroof, and ambient lighting.
In terms of safety, the MG Windsor comes equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Powering the Windsor is a front-mounted electric motor producing 136 hp and 200 Nm of torque. Coupled with a 38 kWh battery, it delivers an impressive range of up to 331 km.Â
Charging is convenient, with fast-charging capability taking it from 0 to 80% in just 55 minutes. Standard charging times range from 6.5 to 14 hours.
In India, MG offers a lifetime warranty on the battery and free public charging for the first year of ownership.
