In 2016, when Minh “Nhá»±a” sold his Bugatti Veyron, the car affectionately known as the “King of Speed” and the first hypercar in Vietnam, it seemed like the car disappeared without a trace. That is until two years later when it resurfaced, having been purchased by Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu, the “King of Coffee.” Mr. Vu not only bought the car but also gave it a new lease of life by repainting it white and using it as the lead car for the first-ever Trung NguyĂªn supercar journey across Vietnam.
Driving a Bugatti Veyron, with a top speed of 408.84 km/h and capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.5 seconds, is an incredible experience. Now, imagine driving this supercar on a nearly 2,000-kilometer journey from Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi. That’s exactly what Mr. Vu’s chauffeur did, and it’s hard to fathom how sore their back must have been afterward. But Mr. Vu is not one to keep his cars locked up in a garage; he has, on several occasions, displayed the car for people to admire and take photos with, as evidenced by its recent participation in the Gumball 3000 2024 event held in Vietnam on September 14-15, 2024.
During the two-day event, the million-dollar supercar played host to countless guests, from children to the elderly, all eager to get a glimpse and a photo with the once-fastest car in the world. Some even arrived in wheelchairs, determined to have their moment with this engineering marvel.
However, the owner himself, Mr. Vu, doesn’t seem too bothered by all the attention. In a recent conversation, he revealed that he has never actually driven any of his high-speed supercars, including the Bugatti Veyron, a car that so many people dream of owning. This revelation came as a surprise to many.
To refresh the look of the Bugatti Veyron, which he has owned for six years and one month, Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu made some stylish modifications. He installed a new set of custom rims and added black accents to the sides of the car, extending to the doors, creating a striking contrast against the white body. The original car featured a white and red color scheme. With these changes, along with the addition of Super Sport headlights, the “King of Coffee” has put his unique touch on this already extraordinary vehicle.
The Bugatti Veyron is an exclusive car, with only 450 units produced worldwide. Mr. Vu’s Veyron stands out from many standard models with its Super Sport-style headlights. It sits proudly alongside other supercars in his garage, including the McLaren Senna, Porsche 918 Spyder, and Ford GT.
The Bugatti Veyron that Mr. Vu, the owner of the Trung NguyĂªn coffee brand, displayed at Gumball 3000 2024, is powered by a 16-cylinder engine in a W configuration, with a displacement of 8 liters, 64 valves, 4 camshafts, and 4 turbochargers. This engineering masterpiece produces a staggering 1,001 horsepower and 1,250 Nm of torque.
With its incredible performance, the “King of Speed” needs just 2.5 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, and it will keep going until it reaches its top speed of 408.84 km/h.
The standard Bugatti Veyron features a multi-spoke chrome-plated rim design. However, after approximately 16,000 kilometers, the owner would need to spend $55,000 on a new set of rims. Additionally, the Veyron’s tires require replacement every 4,000 kilometers, which can cost up to $33,000. It’s clear that maintaining a Bugatti Veyron is an expensive endeavor, and this million-dollar supercar is more suited to collectors than daily drivers.
