At the IAA Transportation 2024 exhibition in Hannover, Germany, Ford officially unveiled the all-new Ranger PHEV to consumers.

The American automotive brand stated that this version is for customers who need a powerful pickup with superior off-road capability, but one that is also fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly.

The Ranger PHEV is equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbocharged engine paired with a 101 horsepower electric motor, delivering a combined output of 275 horsepower and 690 Nm of torque. This figure surpasses all traditional gasoline and diesel Ranger variants and is only second to the high-performance Ranger Raptor.

The power from the aforementioned PHEV system is transmitted to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission and the e-4WD system, which integrates a two-speed transfer case and a rear-axle locking differential. The Ranger PHEV also offers similar towing capabilities as other versions, with a maximum payload of 1 ton and a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tons.

The Ranger PHEV features an 11.8 kWh battery pack, enabling the vehicle to travel up to 45 kilometers in pure electric mode. Blue Oval states that the Ranger PHEV is equipped with a regenerative braking system, converting excess energy during braking into electrical energy. Additionally, this version also includes the Pro Power Onboard feature, allowing owners to reverse charge external electrical devices from the vehicle, with a standard 2.3 kW power source or an optional 6.9 kW upgrade.

Essentially, the Ford Ranger PHEV retains the same exterior design as the other variants. The rare and noticeable difference is the new charging port located on the rear mudguard, right next to the fuel filler cap. Additionally, it sports PHEV badging on the rear mudguard vent and exclusive 18-inch alloy wheels.

Customers who prefer a pickup with more features can opt for the Ranger Wildtrak PHEV, which offers an exclusive Chill Grey paint job, Matrix LED headlights, and a flexible rear rack system.

Inside, the Ford Ranger PHEV boasts a B&O sound system with 10 speakers, a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment display, and a 360-degree camera.

The Ford Ranger PHEV will be manufactured at the Silverton plant in South Africa and distributed across various markets, including Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Pricing for this model will be announced by the American automaker in early 2025 when the vehicle officially rolls off the production line and is delivered to customers.
