At last year’s Gumball 3000 supercar rally, two Korean tycoons registered to participate in a million-dollar Bugatti Divo supercar, with only 40 cars produced globally, starting at a selling price of $5.8 million. And at this year’s Gumball 3000 2024, celebrating its 25th anniversary, the duo appeared with another blockbuster, also produced in a limited number of 40, the Pagani Huayra BC Roadster.
Arriving in Vietnam very early and traveling by sea instead of air, this million-dollar Pagani Huayra BC Roadster has been very discreet and only revealed itself on September 14, 2024, the first day of the Gumball 3000 2024 journey. The two Korean tycoons personally drove this expensive masterpiece from a warehouse in Di An, Binh Duong province, to Le Loi Avenue, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City.
Only 40 Pagani Huayra BC Roadster supercars were produced globally, and some sources suggest that two of them will be present at Gumball 3000. Aside from the one featured in this article, there is also a car owned by a Singaporean tycoon, but it will be displayed in his home country instead of being driven through the rally route.
The Pagani Huayra BC Roadster has a price tag of $3.5 million, significantly higher than the $1.3 million of the standard version, and this is evident as all 40 owners of the Pagani Huayra BC Roadster worldwide are collectors. However, this price excludes additional options, such as the green carbon fiber body and orange accents of the car participating in Gumball 3000 2024, which could push the total cost above $4 million.
Aside from the green carbon fiber body, this million-dollar Pagani Huayra BC Roadster also features glossy carbon fiber details. Compared to the car owned by Minh “Nhựa”, this model has a much more aggressive design, incorporating many racing technologies.
For instance, the Pagani Huayra BC Roadster is fitted with specially designed Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires to enhance road grip, a rear wing that increases downforce, a new front bumper with additional fins, and more.
The Pagani Huayra BC Roadster is equipped with a V12 engine, twin-turbocharged, with a displacement of 6.0 liters, producing a maximum output of 789 horsepower and a peak torque of 1,099 Nm. The power of the Huayra BC Roadster is transmitted to the wheels through a new 7-speed Xtrac automatic transmission.
Pagani also notes that this single-clutch setup is 35% lighter than a typical dual-clutch system. Combined with many other impressive manufacturing techniques, the supercar weighs just 1,217 kg. Its acceleration from 0 to 96 km/h is similar to that of the coupe version.
