The ninth-generation Toyota Camry (XV80) has been awarded a five-star safety rating by Australia’s New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), achieving a record-breaking score for adult occupant protection.

The 2025 Toyota Camry impressed in crash tests, scoring an unprecedented 95% for adult occupant protection. This is the highest score among vehicles assessed by ANCAP under its latest and most stringent criteria, applicable from 2023 through to the end of 2025.

ANCAP reported that the ninth-generation Camry achieved full marks in side and oblique crash tests. This sedan also demonstrated excellent performance in mitigating risks for oncoming vehicles in head-on collisions, losing only 0.96 points out of 8 in this category.

Similarly, the 2025 Toyota Camry’s child occupant protection scored an impressive 87%. It received a “Good” rating for head protection in offset frontal and side impact tests, while the chest and neck protection were deemed “Adequate.”

In terms of pedestrian protection, the Camry achieved 84%, offering good protection for pedestrians in the event of a collision. Its automatic emergency braking system (AEB) also proved effective in forward-facing tests, including turning and overtaking scenarios.

When it comes to safety assistance technologies, the 2025 Camry excelled with a full score for lane support. Its camera-based speed support also offers advanced features, such as recognizing curves when using cruise control and adjusting speed accordingly. While the driver monitoring system is equipped, it wasn’t tested as it’s not activated by default.

“The Toyota Camry delivers robust protection for both vehicle occupants and vulnerable road users. As a popular choice for both personal and business use, it offers the five-star safety that drivers and passengers expect,” said ANCAP CEO, Carla Hoorweg.
