Gumball 3000 is an annual supercar rally that enthusiasts and billionaires worldwide eagerly anticipate. Each year, the event takes place with a unique itinerary, and in 2024, for the first time, it was hosted in Vietnam on September 14 and 15. Subsequently, the rally proceeded to Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and concluded in Singapore.
More than 100 supercars participated in the 25th Gumball 3000, including models that made their debut in Vietnam. Among them was the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, which stood out with its unique design and specifications compared to other Lamborghini Huracan models previously imported into the country. Three Lamborghini Huracan Sterratos were present, all fully equipped.
While the limited-edition Porsche 911 Dakar, with a global production of 2,500 units, has already seen four cars imported to Vietnam, the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato has not had any presence in the country beyond its brief appearance during Gumball 3000 2024.
The first Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato that catches the eye is the one in military gray, a color often associated with fighter jets and previously offered as a custom option for the Avio limited edition of 250 cars. This particular Sterrato, bearing Japanese license plates, also features black accents, orange stripes, and the remaining two in matte red and green.
Unlike its siblings, the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato is designed to conquer all types of terrain, including mountain passes. The name “Sterrato” in Italian means “dirt” or “mud,” and the car’s design reflects this off-road capability. Specifically, the ground clearance has been increased by 47 mm, the front approach angle improved by 1%, and the departure angle by 6.5%.
Additionally, the front and rear tracks have been widened by 30 mm and 34 mm, respectively, to enhance stability and balance during operation. From the outside, the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato retains the basic design of the standard model but with some distinctive additions, including two searchlights on the front, a roof rack, and thick wheel arch protectors in black.
The wheel arch protectors are bolted on, giving the off-road supercar a more rugged appearance. The Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato also sports 19-inch alloy wheels with Bridgestone Dueler AT002 tires specifically developed for this model.
Another notable modification is the addition of an air intake scoop on the engine cover, preventing debris and dust from entering and damaging the engine during high-speed drives on gravel roads. Even the rear diffuser has been redesigned to protect the engine oil pans, gearbox, and other critical components.
Powering the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato is a naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 610 horsepower and 560 Nm of torque. This engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system. The Sterrato also introduces a new “Rally” driving mode for low-grip, slippery surfaces, in addition to the existing Strada (street) and Sport modes.
It can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 260 km/h. While capable of handling sandy, gravel, and dusty roads, the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato is primarily designed for street use.
The interior features black Alcantara upholstery with Verde Sterrato accents, a central touchscreen, and a digital instrument cluster with an off-road-style display, including a compass and steering angle gauge. According to Lamborghini, only 1,499 units of the Huracan Sterrato will be produced and sold globally, positioning it as a direct rival to the Porsche 911 Dakar.
