On the afternoon of September 20, 2024, Thai media reported that a member of the Gumball 3000 2024 convoy had presented two counterfeit $50 bills at a gas station in Pranburi, north of Prachuap Khiri Khan province in central Thailand. This incident caught the attention of car enthusiasts worldwide. Additionally, it was revealed that the Gumball 3000 convoy was stopped at the Sadao border checkpoint, near the Thai-Malaysian border.
Many were concerned that this incident would significantly impact the schedule of the Gumball 3000 2024 supercar convoy. Fortunately, by the evening of the same day, the world’s largest supercar rally, on its 25th journey through 5 ASEAN countries, had entered Malaysia. Notably, the Koenigsegg Regera “Honey” arrived in Malaysia very late, after 8 pm.
Currently, the Gumball 3000 2024 journey has only released images of the supercars at the Sadao border checkpoint, and no images from the Malaysian capital have been shared yet. According to the schedule, the convoy will arrive in Singapore today to conclude their journey, and the Gumballers will have the opportunity to watch the Formula 1 race taking place tomorrow.
The 25th Gumball 3000 supercar journey spanned 5 countries: Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore. The rally began on Hanoi’s Le Loi Avenue and will conclude in the Lion City, covering a total distance of 3,000 miles. Out of the over 100 participating cars, two bore Vietnamese license plates: a Mercedes-Maybach S450 4Matic and a Mercedes-Maybach S580.
