After a long day of traveling from Thailand and crossing into Malaysia in the late evening, the Gumball 3000 2024 supercar convoy was further delayed at the Sadao border crossing between the two countries, as Thai authorities detained the group to investigate an incident involving counterfeit money.
As a result, the convoy arrived in Kuala Lumpur well after midnight, but despite the late hour, thousands of enthusiastic fans packed the gathering point to catch a glimpse of the exotic cars. Tired but exhilarated, the participants put on a lively show with music, revving engines, and burnouts, embodying the spirit of Gumball 3000.
The Koenigsegg Regera “Honey” attracted significant attention, as Thai media reports implicated two vehicles, including this model, in the counterfeit money incident. The driver of the megacar wasted no time in showcasing its party piece, the “Autoskin” feature, which allows the owner to open the car’s doors remotely, among other futuristic tricks.
After a good night’s rest, the convoy will head to the Sepang circuit to indulge in some high-speed thrills before departing Malaysia later tonight on September 21, 2024, concluding their epic 5-nation Asean journey. The expedition began in Vietnam, traveled through Cambodia and Thailand, and included over 100 cars covering a distance of 3,000 miles.
