The 2024 Olympic Games, hosted in Paris, France, have captivated the attention of millions of viewers worldwide. Toyota, as one of the main sponsors of this sporting event, is responsible for providing transportation for all participating athletes.

According to the International Olympic Committee, Toyota began delivering the first batch of vehicles to France in early March to support the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The Japanese automaker will provide a total of 2,650 electric vehicles and 700 mobility solutions for all staff, officials, and athletes involved in the Olympics.

Specifically, the mobility solutions include 250 Accessible People Movers (APMs) and a number of mini electric vehicles for officials and athletes to move around within the “Olympic Village”.

Additionally, Toyota has brought to France an electric wheelchair puller, replacing the traditional manual wheelchairs, and the C+Walk S electric scooter for the Paralympic Paris 2024 athletes.

Toyota also sponsored transportation for the 2020 Olympics, where the Toyota Mirai, a vehicle powered by hydrogen fuel cells, was prominently featured. The Mirai’s electric motor generates 182 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque from three hydrogen tanks.

While Toyota does not seem to be emphasizing the Mirai as much during this year’s Olympics, they are still using it as an advertising prop for the media. In the United States, the Toyota Mirai has not seen great sales success due to its high price tag and limited refueling infrastructure.
