In our series of articles on supercars attending Gumball 3000 2024, we’ve showcased exotic and expensive cars, as well as uniquely modified vehicles. Today, we present something truly unique—a car that stands out not just for its design but also for the challenges it posed to its owner.
Behold the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow pickup truck, arguably the most eccentric car at Gumball 3000 2024. Little did onlookers know that this car had a mind of its own, repeatedly breaking down and testing the owner’s patience and mechanical skills.
Right from the start of its journey, as it left the garage in Di An, Binh Duong Province, bound for Le Loi Boulevard in Ho Chi Minh City’s District 1, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow had to make an unplanned stop. The coolant began to boil furiously, an issue that left onlookers concerned and the owner flustered.
The car eventually limped to the assembly point, and as it embarked on the journey to Thailand, it broke down once more. The owner, passionate about this unique vehicle, eagerly opened the hood to identify and fix the issue, getting their hands dirty in the process.

Setting aside the unpredictable engine shutdowns and coolant issues, the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow pickup truck is a fascinating creation. The original Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow is a luxury car, but the owner took it to the next level by adding two extra wheels at the back, along with a cargo bed, transforming it into a vehicle capable of transporting goods and providing assistance to other cars in need.
The front rims are adorned with chrome-plated nuts, adding a touch of personality. “The idea came from a joke that my father wanted to transport his Rolls-Royces with another Rolls-Royce, and it eventually became a reality.” shared Jordan Wojciechowski, who completed this project before handing it over to its new owner.
The standard wheelbase of the Silver Shadow measures 5,170 mm, but with the addition of the cargo bed, the overall length of the vehicle likely exceeds six meters. The Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was priced at £6,557 during its first year of production. It was powered by a 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 172 horsepower (128 kW) from 1965 to 1969, and a more potent 6.75-liter V8 engine generating 189 horsepower (141 kW) from 1970 to 1980.

The Ultimate Supercar Spectacle: Gumball 3000 Rally 2024 Roars into Malaysia with a Late-Night Koenigsegg Regera Appearance.
In a rather unfortunate turn of events, the Gumball 3000 2024 supercar rally was halted at the Sadao border checkpoint, close to the Malaysian border, due to the discovery of counterfeit $50 bills being used to pay for gasoline. However, by late afternoon, the rally had been cleared to continue their journey into the fourth country.
