The Gumball 3000 supercar event held in Vietnam on the 14th and 15th of September was a thrilling spectacle, with over 100 cars from around the globe gathering in the country.
Among them were some unique and exotic cars, and one that stood out was a Ferrari 488 Pista Spider owned by two French participants. This car garnered even more attention and buzz than the Koenigsegg Regera “Honey” or the Pagani Huayra BC Roadster.
What made this Ferrari 488 Pista Spider so distinctive was its unusual appearance. It sported an aggressive body kit at the front, and a rear wing that seemed out of place on such a beautiful supercar.
Stranger still, the owner had attached these aftermarket parts to the car using tape! As the supercar drove from Le Loi Boulevard to Cu Chi, the body kit started falling off, creating a trail of parts in its wake.
Social media was abuzz with images of passersby collecting the fallen body kit parts, including the front and rear wings, and returning them to the owner at the Cu Chi tunnels.
In a rather amusing twist, the owner then tried to sell these parts to other Gumball participants at a discounted price, but unsurprisingly, no one wanted to buy them.
Adding to the eccentricity, the owner had also covered the Ferrari logos on the front, sides, and rear of the car with badges from a French car brand. This act of defacing the Ferrari brand could potentially land the owner in hot water, as the Italian marque is known to take legal action in such cases.

Thankfully, the Ferrari 488 was eventually restored to its original beauty, revealing a stunning white Pista Spider with carbon fiber accents and sporty five-spoke wheels. The Ferrari 488 Pista Spider is a high-performance variant of the 488 Spider supercar.
Ferrari engineered the 488 Pista Spider with a focus on weight reduction, resulting in a curb weight of just 1,380 kg, which is 100 kg more than the Coupe version. The key difference with the Ferrari 488 Pista is the retractable hardtop, which can be opened or closed in 14 to 16 seconds. The Italian marque also added a wind deflector to reduce cabin noise.
Powering the Ferrari 488 Pista Spider is a 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces a staggering 720 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 770 Nm of torque at 3,000 rpm. Combined with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, this setup enables the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.85 seconds, reaching a top speed of 340 km/h.
