Southern dealers have recently announced that they are taking deposits for the new Skoda Kodiaq model. The car is expected to be launched in Vietnam in October and will still be imported as a completely built unit.
The 2024 Kodiaq was globally unveiled in October 2023. After about a year of its global launch, the Kodiaq has now been upgraded for the Vietnamese market.
The Skoda Kodiaq 2024 is based on the MQB platform of its parent company, Volkswagen. It measures 4,758 mm in length, 1,864 mm in width, and 1,657 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. Compared to its predecessor, the new model is 61 mm longer, 18 mm narrower, and 24 mm lower, while the wheelbase remains unchanged.
Similar to most of its core models, Skoda has adopted an evolutionary approach in the design of the second-generation Kodiaq. While retaining characteristic elements and proportions from the previous version, the SUV now sports a sharper look thanks to new features from the brand’s ‘Modern Solid’ design language.
Elements such as the headlights/taillights, front/rear bumpers, and alloy wheels have been refined. The SUV features matrix LED headlights with integrated T-shaped LED daytime running lights. The taillights also have a new design, highlighted by an LED strip that runs across the tailgate.
In terms of interior, the Kodiaq‘s cabin features a modern and minimalist design. It is equipped with a 12.9-inch infotainment screen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a HUD display. The central control cluster has also been redesigned for a more streamlined look. Meanwhile, the SUV’s gear selector has been moved from the central console to behind the steering wheel.
The high-end variant boasts a 14-speaker Canton sound system, four USB-C ports, and front seats with massage function. The Kodiaq 2024 also features higher-quality interior materials.
It is unclear what engine will be offered with the Skoda Kodiaq 2024 in Vietnam. In international markets, the SUV is available with four engine options, including gasoline, diesel, and hybrid variants. Notably, the PHEV version combines a 1.5 TSI Evo 2 gasoline engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined output of 201 horsepower. It also features a 25.7 kWh battery pack that enables an all-electric range of over 100 kilometers and supports fast DC charging up to 50 kW.
The current-generation Kodiaq sold in Vietnam lacks ADAS features. It is highly likely that the new model will incorporate this technology, as most SUVs in the mid-size segment now offer similar advanced driver-assistance systems.
Is the Skoda Kodiaq Underrated?
In the vibrant Vietnamese automotive market, where enticing promotions are abound, the Skoda Kodiaq stands out as a formidable contender in the 7-seater SUV segment. With its impressive features and performance, the Kodiaq offers a compelling alternative to its well-established rivals, providing an attractive option for discerning customers.
