Zeekr 009 MPV

On September 23, 2024, the Zeekr luxury car brand under the Geely Group officially introduced the large-sized 009 MPV in the Thai market. In this market, the car has only one version, the Flagship AWD, with a starting price of 3.099 million Baht (approximately 2.318 billion VND).

Imported from China, the Zeekr 009 will compete with the Toyota Alphard in Thailand. Compared to Toyota’s “land jet”, this Chinese model is significantly larger in size.

Specifically, the length, width, and height of the Zeekr 009 are 5,209 x 2,024 x 1,812 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 3,205 mm. In addition, the ground clearance is only 142 mm.

The Zeekr 009 adopts a similar design language to the Toyota Alphard, featuring a large front grille that extends to the bumper. Dubbed the “Fountain of Light”, this grille is painted in the body color. It also incorporates vertical slats with a total of 32 LEDs that can be sequentially illuminated, creating impressive light effects.

Moving up, we find a two-tier lighting system. On the top are five LED daytime running light strips on each side, forming a “U” shape. Meanwhile, the horizontal LED headlights are positioned below.

Despite its bulky and boxy appearance, this luxury MPV boasts a remarkably low drag coefficient of just 0.27 Cd, almost matching the BMW i8. This achievement is partly due to the active shutter system in the center air intake.

On the sides, we spot extended fender flares, pillar-less windows for a more airy cabin and improved visibility for the driver, and chrome trim on pillar C, reminiscent of the front grille.

In the Thai market, this large MPV rides on 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot 265/45 R20 tires and features electric sliding doors.

At the rear, the Zeekr 009 sports vertical LED taillights that stretch across the width of the vehicle. Named “Wings of Light”, these taillights span 1.76 meters and incorporate a total of 402 LEDs. The roof spoiler integrates a rear-facing camera to assist with safety features.

Inside, the Zeekr 009 for the Thai market offers a spacious 3-row, 6-seat layout. The middle row features two fully-reclining business-class seats with leg rests, an 8.6-liter refrigerator…

The front seats are also electrically adjustable, while the rearmost row offers a 60:40 split-folding configuration.

Powering the Zeekr 009 in Thailand is a pair of electric motors on each axle, generating a combined output of 450 kW (around 612 hp) and 693 Nm of torque. This enables the MPV to sprint from 0-100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

The Zeekr 009 is equipped with a lithium-ion battery pack offering a capacity of 116 kWh. This provides a WLTP-rated range of 582 km. The vehicle supports both slow AC charging and fast DC charging with a maximum charging power of 310 kW. Charging the battery from 10% to 80% using a fast charger takes just 11.5 minutes.

Earlier in September 2024, Tasco Auto officially signed an agreement to distribute Zeekr vehicles in Vietnam. Tasco Auto also distributes Volvo and Lynk & Co cars in the country. It remains to be seen which Zeekr models will be offered in Vietnam, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the Zeekr 009 is also introduced here in the future.
