This Skoda Kodiaq model is equipped with ballistic armor that meets PAS 300 standards. As a security-focused version, the vehicle can withstand handgun fire, grenades, and powerful explosives.

According to Carscoops, Skoda has unveiled an armored version of the first-generation Kodiaq, developed by Skoda UK in collaboration with security specialists from UTAC Special Vehicles.

Interestingly, this special armored vehicle is based on the Skoda Kodiaq first-generation model that received an upgrade rather than the newer generation launched last year. External modifications are limited to flashing lights on the grille, bumpers, and rear doors, aiming to resemble a standard production model as closely as possible.

Meanwhile, the interior features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system converted into a “communication center” with GPS and special controls for emergency lights and alarms. More importantly, the Skoda Kodiaq Armored boasts of bullet-resistant glass and a significantly reinforced passenger compartment with additional steel plating.

Skoda engineers have incorporated upgraded suspension and brakes, ensuring that this heavier, armored Kodiaq retains the handling and agility of the standard version. All four wheels are equipped with a tire retention system, preventing the tires from detaching from the rims even when completely deflated.

Skoda states that the Kodiaq “armored” is capable of withstanding gunfire from various handguns and rifles, in addition to offering blast resistance against grenades and powerful explosives. It is designed to meet the PAS 300 and PAS 301 requirements of the Civilian Armored Vehicle standards.

This certification mandates rigorous testing for load capacity, acceleration, top speed, handling, and braking. The Skoda Kodiaq Armored has endured over 200 bullets and demonstrated its blast resistance on the sides, roof, and underbody.

There are no changes to the engine options, and customers can choose the drivetrain according to their needs, including the 4×4 version.

Carscoops reports that the company has sold nearly 500 armored Superbs since its launch in 2018, indicating a promising market for armored Skoda vehicles.
