According to Carscoops, the 2025 Kia Sportage is slowly unveiling itself, with more apparent changes to its exterior. The latest images show the updated C-segment SUV prototype being tested at the Nürburgring racetrack in Germany with minimal camouflage.
The most noticeable change to the 2025 Kia Sportage is its entirely new grille design, which is rectangular and nearly complete in the latest set of images captured by Carscoops. The main headlights are vertically positioned on either side of this grille, accompanied by daytime running lights with a similar vertical design.
The 2025 Kia Sportage features a new-style front bumper and fog lights stacked on top of each other. The tiger-nose design seems to be eliminated from the upcoming facelifted version of the Kia Sportage.
Most of the exterior lines of the 2025 Kia Sportage remain unchanged. The redesigned, more compact rear lights are now more visible. The car’s rear bumper has also been redesigned, along with relatively thin reflective strips.

Carscoops notes that what appears on this test prototype will be applied to the 2025 Kia Sportage short-wheelbase version for the European market. However, it is highly likely that these exterior changes will also be implemented by the South Korean automaker for the US market version.
It is still unclear whether Kia will introduce any changes to the powertrain of the 2025 Kia Sportage. The current-generation C-segment SUV offers a diverse range of engine options.
The standard engine for the current Kia Sportage is a 1.6L turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 148 horsepower and is paired with either a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Another option is the hybrid variant, which includes a 1.6L turbocharged engine combined with an electric motor and a 1.49 kWh lithium-ion battery, capable of generating a combined output of 226 horsepower.
Additionally, the current-generation Kia Sportage also features a plug-in hybrid variant, delivering a combined output of 261 horsepower and offering an all-electric range of up to 69 kilometers.
In the Vietnamese market, the Kia Sportage is offered with three engine options: a 2.0L gasoline engine, a 2.0L diesel engine, and a 1.6L turbocharged gasoline engine. Thaco, the distributor of Kia vehicles in Vietnam, has not yet introduced the hybrid version of the Kia Sportage to local customers.
In the first six months of 2024, the Kia Sportage sold 1,001 units, ranking behind competitors such as the Mazda CX-5 (5,270 units), Ford Territory (2,949 units), Honda CR-V (2,338 units), and the Hyundai Tucson, which sold 2,084 units during the same period.
