A rare accident recently occurred between the McLaren 600LT sports car and the Mercedes-Maybach GLS ultra-luxury SUV. This incident was captured on video in Yangdong District, Yangjiang City, Guangdong Province, China.

The driver likely forgot to shift into park before exiting the vehicle and closing the door, causing the McLaren to continuously move forward. As a result, the front end of the 600LT and the rear end of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS sustained significant damage.

The cause of this incident is still under investigation. In China, the resale value of the McLaren 600LT is approximately $200,000, and the Mercedes-Maybach GLS holds a similar value.

Introduced in June 2018, the McLaren 600LT is a high-performance “long-tail” variant of the 570S. Following the brand’s design philosophy, this model features an extended overall length, lightweight components, and a more powerful engine.

This is McLaren’s third model to bear the LT name, following the McLaren F1 GTR Longtail and the McLaren 675LT. Compared to the 570S, the 600LT is 73.7 mm longer.

The one-piece carbon fiber monocoque chassis and numerous upgraded lightweight components contribute to the 600LT’s lightweight construction, weighing just 1,247 kg—96 kg lighter than the 570S.

The titanium exhaust system is now positioned under the engine cover, similar to the McLaren Senna. The 3.8L twin-turbo V8 engine produces 600 horsepower and 620 Nm of torque.

According to the manufacturer, the McLaren 600LT can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 328 km/h.
