This McLaren 720S Spider is currently up for sale on the used car market for approximately 20 billion VND.
This McLaren 720S Spider, a supercar owned by Mrs. Phuong Le, a beauty pageant winner, was imported to Vietnam in late 2022. It is the Performance version, and when it first arrived, it cost VND 20.2 billion, excluding taxes and fees. To get this McLaren 720S Spider on the road, Mrs. Phuong Le is estimated to have spent a total of VND 22.2-22.5 billion.
After nearly two years of ownership and experience, Mrs. Phuong Le has decided to part ways with the McLaren 720S Spider. It is unclear at what price she sold the car. The new owner is now offering it for sale on the used car market for around 20 billion VND. According to the seller, the car has only 2,555 km on the odometer, indicating minimal use and a like-new condition.
As a Performance version, this McLaren 720S Spider boasts several carbon fiber components, including the front bumper, headlight housing, side mirrors, engine cover, air intakes, and rear bumper. These not only enhance the car’s sporty appearance but also help reduce the overall weight.
The McLaren 720S Spider featured here has a sleek black exterior, adding to the allure of this British supercar. It is fitted with 10-spoke black matte wheels in the Stealth style. Being the convertible version of the 720S Coupe, the 720S Spider’s most notable design difference is its retractable hardtop, which can be conveniently operated with the push of a button. This hardtop feature is a significant draw for many Vietnamese enthusiasts as it offers better flexibility and weather resistance than a traditional soft-top.
The retractable hardtop of the McLaren 720S Spider consists of a one-piece carbon fiber roof panel that can be raised or lowered in just 11 seconds, which is 6 seconds faster than its predecessor, the 650 Spider. Moreover, it can operate at speeds of up to 50 km/h, outperforming the 650 Spider’s 30 km/h limit, and it does so with twice the smoothness of the first-generation Super Series convertible.
The McLaren 720S Spider is built on the Monocage II-S carbon fiber structure, an evolution of the Monocage II found in the coupe version. The underbody aerodynamics have also been modified to accommodate the new rear-end design and the active sports rear spoiler, which has a different setup from the coupe.
With a dry weight of 1,322 kg, the 720S Spider is 49 kg heavier than the coupe due to the retractable hardtop and its housing. Nonetheless, it is still 88 kg lighter than its rival, the Ferrari 488 Spider.
Powering the McLaren 720S Spider is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that produces 710 horsepower and 769 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission, enabling the car to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds. The supercar has a top speed of 325 km/h.
