The well-known entrepreneur H.A, who operates in the transportation industry, is famous among car enthusiasts and online communities alike. He owns the first-ever limited-edition Porsche 911 Dakar sports car in Vietnam and has taken it on adventurous road trips to China, clocking over 50,000 km on the odometer. Recently, he shared an interesting anecdote about his attempt to purchase the Porsche 918 Spyder.
Specifically, the car enthusiast from Hai Phong city expressed his interest in the million-dollar supercar, saying, “I would have bought it if it were for sale, but it’s frustrating that it’s sold out.” He accompanied this statement with a photo of himself alongside the Porsche 918 Spyder. Only 918 units of this exclusive model were produced globally, and the one in the photo is the very last brand-new unit available, owned by a wealthy individual from District 7.
The Porsche 918 Spyder that the Vietnamese entrepreneur inquired about is currently on display at the Porsche headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. It is the newest 918 Spyder in the world and is not for sale, even to those with deep pockets.
In reality, if the entrepreneur wanted to acquire a Porsche 918 Spyder, he could explore options through dealerships worldwide, where pre-owned units with low mileage are available at various price points. However, importing such a vehicle to Vietnam would be a challenging endeavor.
Currently, there are two Porsche 918 Spyders known to be in Vietnam. One bears a Cambodian license plate and is owned by an entrepreneur in the consumer goods industry, while the other, the only one officially imported into the country, resides in the garage of Mr. Dang Le Nguyen Vu.
The Porsche 918 Spyder is an ultra-exclusive supercar, with only 918 units produced globally. Each car is individually numbered, and the price varies depending on its configuration, starting at $845,000. However, just a few months after its introduction, the 918 Spyder’s price surged past the $1 million mark.
The Porsche 918 Spyder featured in this article sports a sleek gray paint job, and its two carbon fiber roof panels can be easily removed and stored in the front trunk when not in use.
Despite being a decade old, the 918 Spyder remains Porsche’s most powerful car to date. It boasts a plug-in hybrid powertrain, combining a naturally aspirated 4.6-liter V8 engine with two electric motors to deliver a staggering 881 horsepower and 1,280 Nm of torque.
This hybrid supercar can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 345 km/h. The 6.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack enables the Porsche 918 Spyder to travel up to 19 km in pure electric mode.
