Last night, on the 27th of September 2024, car enthusiasts in the country were quite surprised to spot a luxurious Rolls-Royce Spectre coupe parked right at the supercar hotspot in Ho Chi Minh City, specifically near the Ho Chi Minh City Opera House, at the intersection of Dong Khoi Street and Lam Son Square.
Interestingly, this particular Rolls-Royce Spectre stood out with its fashionable paint job, a characteristic of the first-ever electric car from Rolls-Royce, marking a stark contrast to the white-colored Spectre owned by Minh “Nhá»±a”
The unique paint job of this Rolls-Royce Spectre appears greenish under night lighting and turns yellowish in the sunlight, complemented by black painted details, as well as a set of dual-spoke alloy wheels, creating an eye-catching design for this electric model from the British marque.
Another striking feature of this luxurious Rolls-Royce Spectre is its memorable license plate, 51L-698.89, which consists of only three digits, all of which are considered lucky numbers in Vietnamese culture: 6 representing luck, 8 symbolizing wealth, and 9 denoting longevity. This license plate was auctioned off two weeks ago and fetched a high bid of only VND 145 million.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre, a luxurious electric car, is priced at VND 18 billion in Vietnam, but this particular vehicle has additional options, including custom paint, wheels, and exterior features, pushing the price above VND 25 billion, excluding other costs to get the car on the road.
One of the key highlights of this car is the captivating headlights, which are positioned lower than usual, and it is the only Rolls-Royce model with a daytime running LED strip placed above the headlights, right at the top of the famous pantheon-shaped grille.
The distinctive pantheon-shaped grille, reminiscent of a fireplace, has been downsized while retaining the elegance and signature style of Rolls-Royce. The underside of the car features a full-width air intake and an additional small splitter, along with the iconic Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, which has been modified to be 1.7 cm shorter, contributing to a drag coefficient of just 0.25Cd, making it the most aerodynamically efficient Rolls-Royce model.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre stands out from the other models currently on the market with its dynamic side profile, emphasized by sporty side skirts and bold 23-inch alloy wheels that break free from conventional designs. The rear of the car is dominated by a distinctive matrix LED taillight signature, instantly recognizable as the Spectre. Being a coupe, the Rolls-Royce Spectre features reverse-opening doors.
In terms of dimensions, the Rolls-Royce Spectre is a four-seat, two-door coupe with body measurements of 5,453/2,080/1,559 mm in length, width, and height, respectively. It has a wheelbase of 3,210 mm, a turning radius of 12.7 m, and a curb weight of 2,975 kg. The car is adorned with Canadel wood trim on the doors. The delicate wood veneers are crafted from a single log of wood, precisely positioned at a 55-degree angle, adding a touch of dynamism to the cabin.
The carefully designed battery placement in the Rolls-Royce Spectre results in a flat floor, not only lowering the seating position but also providing additional functionality to the battery, acting as a nearly 700 kg noise-reducing material, thus ensuring the iconic quiet ride experience associated with Rolls-Royce.
Under the hood, the Rolls-Royce Spectre is equipped with an electric motor that delivers a maximum output of 577 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. As the first electric car from Rolls-Royce, the Spectre can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.4 seconds and has a top speed limited to 250 km/h.
The Rolls-Royce Spectre offers an impressive range of 515 kilometers according to the EPA testing cycle in the US, which means it can easily cover the distance from Saigon to Nha Trang on a single charge. The British marque shared that this range is more than sufficient for their target customers, as they usually have multiple cars in their garage and don’t rely solely on the Spectre for their daily commutes.
