The upcoming Ram HD will feature a fresh design and technological upgrades.
Testing of the 2025 Ram Heavy Duty is entering its final stages, which means prototypes will soon hit the streets. To give enthusiasts a glimpse, the manufacturer has recently released the first official images of this pickup truck.
Similar to other heavy-duty trucks, the new Ram HD retains its rugged appeal but with a sleeker and more modern twist. The iconic large grille remains, but it has been refined, paired with new two-tier lighting (varying by trim level). We also spot new hood scoops, updated mirrors, and taillights. Other changes are minimal, but it appears that the third brake light may be upgraded to integrate new cameras or sensors.
While Ram hasn’t disclosed much about the Heavy Duty lineup, CEO Chris Feuell previously hinted at incorporating the latest technology from the refreshed Ram 1500. This suggests possible enhancements like an improved 12-inch infotainment system and the availability of a new 14.5-inch screen. Additionally, the new Ram HD could offer wireless smartphone charging and a new 10.25-inch display for front passengers.
Intriguingly, Mr. Feuell previously confirmed “improved powertrains, thanks to our friends at Cummins.” The current model employs a 6.7-liter inline-six turbodiesel engine from Cummins, generating 370 horsepower and 1,151 Nm of torque. In its high-output version, this engine delivers 420 horsepower and 1,456 Nm of torque.
According to international media, the diesel engine lineup may be streamlined, offering just one powertrain option mated to a new eight-speed automatic transmission. Although official details are scarce, it’s evident that the Cummins powertrain will be the star of this upcoming lineup.
