Mitsubishi is gearing up to launch an updated, mid-life cycle version of its Outlander SUV in international markets by the end of the third quarter of 2024. According to Creative Trend, the mid-size SUV has entered its final testing phase and was recently spotted undergoing road trials in Japan.
From the outside, the design changes appear subtle when compared to the latest generation model introduced in 2021. The headlight design remains largely unchanged, but the chrome trim above the grille and the front bumper area have been camouflaged, suggesting potential modifications.

The refreshed Outlander is expected to feature 20-inch alloy wheels, upgrading from the current model’s 18-inch wheels. While the exterior changes are minimal, the interior of the Outlander is set to receive more significant upgrades.
Specifically, the central infotainment screen size is increased from 8 to 12.3 inches, matching the screen found in the Nissan X-Trail. The entire seating cabin is wrapped in aniline leather with ventilation, and a new Yamaha sound system is fitted throughout.
Notably, Mitsubishi has announced that the Outlander facelift will offer a new plug-in hybrid 4×4 powertrain option. This new-generation hybrid system is likely to deliver improved performance over the previous version, which produced 248 horsepower.

The new Outlander will also benefit from an upgraded battery pack, potentially extending its electric range. Additionally, Mitsubishi has confirmed enhancements to the vehicle’s chassis and suspension setup to improve ride comfort.
Pricing details and specific trim levels for the Mitsubishi Outlander facelift are yet to be announced. However, the model is expected to be launched in Japan and the United States in September-October, with European production commencing later this year for a spring 2025 market introduction.
