The Ultimate Head-Turners: Unveiling the Show-Stopping Models at Vietnam Motor Show 2024

As per the latest updates, the Vietnam Motor Show 2024 is scheduled to take place from October 23, 2024, to October 27, 2024, at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC) in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the organizers, the participating automotive brands this year include: GAC, Isuzu, Mitsubishi, Honda, Skoda, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, MG, BYD, and GAZ.

Vietnam Motor Show 2024 will not only be a venue for vehicle displays but also a platform for these brands to introduce their newest and most prominent models.

Here are some of the vehicles that might be launched and attract attention at the Vietnam Motor Show 2024:

**Toyota Camry**

According to sales consultants at dealerships, the new-generation Toyota Camry is expected to be released in Vietnam by the end of this year. There is a high possibility that the new Camry will be showcased at the Vietnam Motor Show (VMS) in October.

It is likely that the new Toyota Camry in Vietnam will be available in three versions: 2.0Q, 2.5HEV Mid, and 2.5HEV Luxury.

It is not yet clear which engine will be equipped with the car when it arrives in Vietnam. In Singapore, the new Camry features a hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.5L Atkinson engine with two electric motors, delivering 228 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 221 Nm of torque from 3,200 to 5,200 rpm.

The vehicle uses a lithium-ion battery and has front-wheel drive through a hybrid CVT transmission. Toyota has announced a fuel consumption rate of 5.1L/100 km, with CO2 emissions of 115 g/km.

**Honda Civic**

The Honda Civic 2024 is another highly anticipated model expected to make an appearance at this year’s VMS. Some dealerships have already started taking reservations for this vehicle.

According to dealership sources, the Honda Civic 2024 will be imported from Thailand and offered in three versions, including one named e:HEV, which will feature a hybrid powertrain.

As the new Civic will have additional equipment, the price is expected to be higher than that of its predecessor. The current Honda Civic’s price ranges from 730 million to 870 million VND.

The Honda Civic 2025 in Vietnam is likely to be powered by two engine options.

The first option is a 1.5L turbocharged engine that produces 178 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, paired with a CVT transmission.

The second option is a high-end hybrid powertrain that combines an electric motor and a gasoline engine. The electric motor generates 181 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque, while the gasoline engine is a naturally aspirated, four-cylinder, 2.0L unit that delivers 141 horsepower and 189 Nm of torque. This model uses an electronic e-CVT transmission and front-wheel drive.

In typical hybrid vehicles, the electric motor plays a secondary role, but in the Civic e:HEV RS, the gasoline engine primarily functions as a generator, with most of the power transmitted to the wheels coming from the electric motor.

This setup enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.9 seconds while offering exceptional fuel efficiency, consuming just 4 liters per 100 kilometers, compared to 6.3 liters for the RS gasoline version.

**Subaru Crosstrek**

Recently, a batch of Subaru Crosstrek 2024 vehicles arrived at a port in Vietnam. According to dealership sources, this compact CUV will be officially launched by the brand in October at the Vietnam Auto Expo 2024.

The Subaru Crosstrek 2024 belongs to the CUV-B segment and competes with models such as the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Nissan Kicks, Mazda CX-3, and Toyota Corolla Cross.

The Subaru Crosstrek, when released in Vietnam, is expected to be powered by a 2.0L naturally aspirated gasoline engine, generating a maximum output of 154 horsepower and 196 Nm of maximum torque. It will be paired with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and offer a choice between front-wheel drive and symmetrical all-wheel drive.

Some dealership consultants have stated that the Crosstrek 2024 is expected to be priced at around 1.1 billion VND, which is significantly higher than its competitors in the same segment, such as the Honda HR-V and Toyota Corolla Cross.

**Skoda Kodiaq**

Recently, several dealerships in the south of Vietnam have started taking reservations for the new-generation Skoda Kodiaq. The vehicle is expected to be launched in the Vietnamese market in October at VMS 2024 and will continue to be imported as a completely built unit.

The Skoda Kodiaq 2024 is developed based on the MQB platform of the Volkswagen Group, with dimensions of 4,758 x 1,864 x 1,657 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. Compared to the previous generation, the new Kodiaq is 61 mm longer, 18 mm narrower, and 24 mm lower, while the wheelbase remains unchanged.

It is not yet clear which engine will be equipped with the Skoda Kodiaq 2024 when it arrives in Vietnam. In the international market, the vehicle offers up to four engine options, including gasoline, diesel, and hybrid variants. Notably, the PHEV version features a 1.5 TSI Evo 2 engine combined with an electric motor, delivering a total output of 201 horsepower. It also comes with a 25.7 kWh battery pack that enables a pure electric range of over 100 km and supports fast DC charging up to 50 kW.

**BYD M6**

BYD has confirmed its participation in VMS this year and is expected to launch three new models simultaneously: the M6, Han EV, and Tang EV.

The BYD M6 is positioned in the MPV segment and is based on the Song Max model, known as the Song Max EV in the Chinese market.

Under the hood of the BYD M6 in Vietnam is expected to be an electric motor that generates 163 horsepower and 310 Nm of torque. The motor is paired with a lithium-ion battery pack with a capacity of 55.4 kWh, providing a range of up to 420 km on a single charge.

The BYD M6 also supports both slow AC charging at 7 kW and fast DC charging at 115 kW. Fast charging can reduce charging time from 10% to 80% in just 40 minutes.

**BYD Han EV**

The BYD Han EV is a large-sized sedan, comparable in size to the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and BMW 5 Series.

In its home market, the BYD Han EV 2024 is offered with two engine options. The first is a standard version equipped with a single electric motor that produces a maximum output of 201 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, paired with front-wheel drive.

The second option is a high-performance version that features two electric motors, delivering a combined output of 487 horsepower and enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. This version comes with all-wheel drive.

The BYD Han EV 2024 is also equipped with high-energy-density and safe-blade battery technology, providing a range of 505 to 605 km, depending on the version. It supports fast charging, allowing the battery to charge from 30% to 80% in about 30 minutes. The BYD Han EV offers three driving modes: ECO, SPORT, and snow mode.

**BYD Tang EV**

The BYD Tang is a three-row SUV/CUV and is the brand’s only pure electric offering in the D-segment if sold in Vietnam.

In the Chinese market, the BYD Tang EV is offered with three engine options.

The first is a standard version equipped with an electric motor that produces 225 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, paired with front-wheel drive.

The second option is a mid-range version that features a single electric motor generating 241 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque.

The third and most powerful option is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor that delivers 241 horsepower and a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 268 horsepower. Both motors provide 350 Nm of torque.

**AION Y Plus**

In October, AION is expected to introduce two models, the Y Plus and ES, in Vietnam. Prior to this, both vehicles were displayed at dealerships for customers to experience and test drive.

The AION Y Plus is positioned in the SUV/CUV segment but has an exterior design similar to an MPV.

In the Thai market, the high-end Aion Y Plus is equipped with an electric motor that generates 204 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque. It uses a 68.3 kWh battery, providing a range of approximately 550 km according to the NEDC standard. The lower-end version uses a 63.2 kWh battery and offers a maximum range of 490 km.

**AION ES**

Unlike the Aion Y Plus, the Aion ES is positioned as a C-segment sedan, competing with models such as the Honda Civic, Kia K3, and Mazda3. It has dimensions of 4,810 mm in length and 1,880 mm in width, with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm.

The Aion ES is powered by an electric motor that produces 136 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque, enabling it to reach a top speed of 130 km/h. The vehicle’s battery provides a range of over 440 km on a single charge.

**GAC M6 Pro**

The GAC M6 Pro is expected to be one of the models that GAC will introduce at VMS this year. The M6 Pro has dimensions of 4,793 x 1,837 x 1,765 mm in length, width, and height, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,810 mm. These dimensions are comparable to those of its direct competitor in the MPV segment, the Toyota Innova Cross.

The GAC M6 Pro is powered by a 1.5L gasoline engine that generates 174 horsepower and a maximum torque of 270 Nm. In the Chinese market, the vehicle is paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and front-wheel drive. It features McPherson suspension at the front and a torsion beam at the rear.

**Isuzu D-Max**

With Isuzu confirmed to participate in VMS 2024, there is a high likelihood that the brand will launch the D-Max pickup truck in Vietnam.

It is not yet clear which engine will be offered with the Isuzu D-Max in Vietnam. In the Philippines, the 2024 D-Max continues to offer two engine options, similar to the previous generation. The first is a 1.9L four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that produces a maximum output of 150 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The second option is a 3.0L four-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Both engine options are available with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.
