**October 10, 2024 – Vingroup and Vietnam Railways Sign MoU for Comprehensive Green Transformation**
Vingroup, through its ecosystem companies, will offer “green” products, services, and utilities to customers and employees of the railway sector, while Vietnam Railways (VNR) will actively join hands with the “Fierce Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future” campaign initiated by Vingroup.
Vietnam Railways, with its long tradition and nationwide network, comprises 25 subsidiary companies, 19 branches and subordinate units, 17 joint ventures and associate companies, and manages 303 stations across 34 provinces and cities. VNR has consistently invested in infrastructure upgrades and service quality improvements while also being a pioneer in green transition initiatives, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment.
Vingroup, Vietnam’s leading private enterprise, boasts a diverse ecosystem of products and services, offering effective solutions for the green transition.
As per the recently signed MoU, VNR will actively participate in the “Fierce Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future” program to accelerate the green transition alongside Vingroup. The two parties will collaborate on sales promotion programs within their respective ecosystems, jointly promote tourism destinations and journeys across Vietnam through the national railway system, and work together to develop co-branded products with national reach.
VNR will also facilitate the integration of V-Green public charging stations into its nationwide network of stations and facilities, making electric vehicles more accessible to the public and VNR employees. Other ecosystem partners of Vingroup, such as GSM and FGF, will be given opportunities to provide green and civilized mobility solutions with electric vehicles at railway stations across the country.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh, General Director of Vietnam Railways, stated, “Vietnam Railways is the only state-owned enterprise established by the Government to manage, operate, and maintain the existing national railway system. Both VNR and Vingroup are operating and will operate environmentally friendly means of transportation. The cooperation between the two corporations aims to leverage their potential and advantages towards the goal of green transformation, contributing to Vietnam’s Net Zero commitment by 2050.”
Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice Chairman and CEO of Vingroup, shared, “Vingroup is delighted that the ‘Fierce Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future’ program continues to receive support and participation from agencies, businesses, organizations, and individuals nationwide. In addition to road transport enterprises, the collaboration with Vietnam Railways in this campaign initiated by Vingroup demonstrates that the green transition policy is creating significant changes in the transportation industry, thereby motivating and inspiring the public to join the green transition.”
