XPeng Motors has unveiled its new P7+ BEV sedan, the first model in the company’s lineup to ditch LiDAR sensors in favor of a camera-only system, similar to Tesla.

Electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng has introduced the P7+ sedan at an event in Shenzhen, China, touting it as the world’s first AI car with AI-powered features such as ADAS, intelligent driving, performance, energy control, and temperature control.

The P7+ is Xpeng’s newest model with the internal code name F57. According to CnEVPost, the car will not use any LiDAR sensors and will instead rely on a camera-only system, similar to Tesla.

Xpeng has dubbed this solution as the “Eagle Eye” visual system, claiming it can gather more accurate and clearer information from a farther distance than traditional cameras, with a scanning area of up to 1.8 football fields.

The company states that the system is powered by two Nvidia Orin X chips, and the XNGP (Xpeng Navigation Guided Pilot) feature will be available when the car is officially delivered.

The manufacturer describes the P7+ as a “three-in-one” vehicle, combining the looks of a coupe, the space of an SUV, and the comfort of an MPV, along with a luxurious interior. Accordingly, this new all-electric sedan has dimensions of 5,056 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width, and 1,512 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. These measurements are slightly larger than its sibling, the P7i.

The XPeng P7+ is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery offering options of 60.7 kWh and 76.3 kWh, resulting in CLTC ranges of 620 km and 710 km, respectively. The car’s exterior design has been optimized for low air resistance, and Xpeng claims the P7+ consumes only 11.6 kWh of electricity per 100 km.

The vehicle’s cockpit is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip, currently the standard on premium electric vehicles. At the event, the company also highlighted that the P7+’s interior can accommodate up to 33 20-inch suitcases, which is considered the largest luggage space in the segment for vehicles under RMB 300,000 in China.

Xpeng mentioned that the P7+ display cars are already available in some of its showrooms, and the official launch and delivery of the vehicle are expected in early November.
