**October 10, 2024 – Vingroup and Vietnam Railways Sign an MoU for Comprehensive Green Transformation**
Through its ecosystem companies, Vingroup will provide green products, services, and utilities to customers and employees of the railway sector, while VNR will actively join hands with the campaign “Fierce Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future” initiated by Vingroup.
Vietnam Railways (VNR) is a company with a long tradition and a nationwide network, comprising 25 subsidiary companies, 19 branches and subordinate units, 17 joint venture and associated enterprises, and managing 303 stations in 34 provinces and cities. Over the years, VNR has continuously invested in and upgraded its infrastructure and service standards and quality. It is also a leading transport company in green transformation initiatives, aiming to reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment.
Vingroup is Vietnam’s leading private enterprise, offering a diverse ecosystem of products and services, including effective solutions for the green transition.
According to the recently signed MoU, VNR will actively participate in the program “Fierce Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future” to jointly promote the green transition with Vingroup. The two sides will collaborate to implement sales promotion programs within each other’s ecosystems, jointly promote tourism journeys and destinations across Vietnam through the national railway system, and cooperate to develop co-branded products of national scope.
VNR will also facilitate the integration of the V-Green public charging station system into its nationwide network of stations and facilities, making it easier for the public and VNR employees to adopt electric vehicles. Other ecosystem partners of Vingroup, such as GSM and FGF, will also be given opportunities to provide green and civilized mobility solutions with electric vehicles at railway stations across the country.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Hoang Gia Khanh, General Director of Vietnam Railways, said: “Vietnam Railways is the only state-owned enterprise established by the Government in Vietnam that is currently managing, operating, and maintaining the existing national railway system. Both VNR and Vingroup are operating and will operate environmentally friendly means of transportation. The cooperation between the two corporations aims to exploit their potential and advantages and contribute to the green transition, helping to realize Vietnam’s Net Zero commitment by 2050.”
Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, Vice Chairman and CEO of Vingroup, said: “Vingroup is delighted that the program ‘Fierce Vietnamese Spirit – For a Green Future’ continues to receive support and participation from agencies, businesses, organizations, and individuals nationwide. In addition to road transport companies, the joint efforts of Vietnam Railways with the campaign initiated by Vingroup demonstrate that the green transition policy is creating significant changes in the transport sector, thereby motivating and inspiring the public to join the green transition.”
