According to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA), the automotive market in September 2024 witnessed impressive growth. Notably, the group of hybrid vehicles also experienced significant positive changes.
Specifically, VAMA member companies sold 1,044 hybrid vehicles in September, a 125% increase compared to the previous month (465 units).Â
Leading the pack was the Toyota Innova Cross HEV with 258 units delivered to customers, marking a remarkable 322% growth from the previous month.Â
Closely following the Toyota Innova Cross HEV was the new entrant, the Suzuki XL7 hybrid, with 256 units sold.
With 223 units sold, a 50% increase from August, the Toyota Corolla Cross HEV secured the third position among the top-selling hybrid vehicles for the month.
The Honda CR-V e:HEV also recorded impressive sales figures, with 219 units sold in September, representing an 87% increase, earning it the fourth spot.
While most models experienced significant growth, the Toyota Yaris Cross HEV sold only 61 units in September, a 49% decrease compared to the previous month.
The Toyota Camry Hybrid, Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid, and Kia Sorento Hybrid occupied the sixth, seventh, and eighth positions, respectively, with sales figures of 14, 7, and 6 units. These models typically struggle to gain traction and often exhibit stagnant sales performance.
According to VAMA’s statistics, the cumulative sales of hybrid vehicles in Vietnam for the first nine months of 2024 amounted to approximately 6,094 units. On average, around 680 hybrid vehicles are sold each month.
However, it is important to note that some car manufacturers, such as Hyundai, Nissan, Haval, Lexus, Volvo, Mercedes, and BMW, do not disclose detailed data regarding their hybrid vehicle sales. Therefore, the actual number of hybrid vehicles sold in the market could be higher than VAMA’s reported figures, indicating the growing popularity and acceptance of hybrid vehicles among Vietnamese consumers.
